Just bought this one and hoping to learn a bit more about the car's history.

I checked with the Dino Registry and they have no records on it.

It appears to be an un-restored example having spent many years in storage.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Ride and drives and full sets of hi-res inspection photos for anyone who can assist with period photos, records or notes on the who, when and where once the car arrives.

    Warm regards always,

    Hi Matthias,

Appears to have been possibly stored for the past 18 years in its current location. Stored prior to that with one of the former owner's since 1974-75. Car was part of an institutional sale and seller has no previous ownership history or details. For now there are more mysteries than answers.

Hoping to be able to shoot full inspection photos and make proper notes in a few weeks when it arrives.

    Many thanks as always,

    Bill

    looking forward for the pictures...
My 206 GT #00334 was in storage more than 20 years before I bought it in 2006.
    Now 100% original restored.

Simply magnificent. Rarely do you see a 206 in such original form, right down to the narrow exhausts. w/ smiles Jimmy

Volkmar organized the reproduction of the exaust system in 100% original dimentions, sound and quality.
(#00334 still had the original exaust system im 2006 when I bought the 206 GT in Italy)

Just plain WOW! The detailing in the motor is amazing. It's nice to see the valve covers in their correct color.

    Fantastic job.

The tiny exhaust outlets really caught my eye. Such a contrast to the coffee cans that pass for exhaust tips on the cars of today.

    Hi Matthias,

I got your email and will be happy to share all I can with you and anyone else who likes these early Dino's. They have always been my favorite. Years ago when I had 0844, I had many long chats with Ferraris Competition Director Mauro Fogehri (spel.) from that era when they were new. He told me the 206GTs were assembled by the competition department for the most part rather than on the regular production line. They then went to Scaglietti for the fitting of the all-alloy coachwork and were some of the very last fully hand assembled cars built by Ferrari in the "old way."

    Cheers,

    Bill

    Hello Matthias,

Fantastic restoration! Everything looks completely correct. The engine compartment is breathtaking. I had never seen the valve covers in this original finish before. And even the exhaust...
What a joy to look at car like this!

Very, very nice, Matthias. The 206, with its aluminium panels and KO wheels, is truly special.

Matthias - We are even more speechless now. The details are impressive.

I have always liked the 206. For all its supposed faults, I think it represents the Dino concept in its purest and lightest form. If you ever have a reason to put it on a scale, I hope you will post the result here. It would be interesting to find out what a real world example of a 206 weighs. I have heard or read somewhere that the alloy body did not save as much weight as Ferrari had hoped for, but it still should be reasonably light.

This car looks absolutely lovely. The paint finish also seems to be superb. Colors are a matter of personal preference. I know you like Rosso Dino, but I never cared for it myself - until now, that is. Looking at the photo of the car sitting on the snow covered ground, I am willing to change my mind!

Bill Noon - On the subject of this thread, #00240: I am happy to hear that you have located another 206 hidden away in storage somewhere and believed to have been lost. Looking forward to learn more about it. The 206s are truly precious.

This car is so nice, it deserves a second "wow" from me.

Absolutely beautiful. It gives me a tear in my eye when I think about my old Dino....

#00334 is really fantastic, Matthias. Is it possible to have some photos during restoration of the car?

Thank you very much Matthias. Great work! Close to a 246 GT, but not exactly the same. Now you have another beautifull (and very rare) car.

Matthias- Beautiful car and I love the Rosso Dino color, the same color as my 246 GT 02984. That was my wife's favorite car of all those we have owned. The current owner painted it red and put flares and chairs on it. A real shame.

Bill- Looking forward to more info on your 206. Sounds like Matthias may be your encyclopedia. The 206s were the purest of the Dinos and had that F2 8000 rpm redline.
