I see you are Lone Star. N27TB is an ex-Enron ride and the 308 was imported from Sweden to Dallas where the PO bought it 15 years ago. So both of them are former Lone Stars!
27TB landing at McCarran Las Vegas. KLAS. Someone took this photo and posted it on Airliners.net. I was taking my wife and peeps to a Van Morrison concert Image Unavailable, Please Login

I don't think its good form to replace Skylane! That is the ultimate hotrod of reasonably priced aviation. Sign me Warrior II driver. Skylane is living the dream.
Nice planes. Here's mine. You guys actually own it, but you let me paint my name on the side. I'm far left in the second pic. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Wow! That's a step up I think and a great looking airplane. Just be sure that it doesn't get to your destination 20 minutes before your brain does. Just kidding. Great addition!
WOW...nice airplane Rob. Congrats. Bet the airspeed creeps up rapidly when the nose comes down. Be careful with that slippery thing.
you are right. the speed brakes are a nice extra tool if needed and the flaps have a pretty high speed limit. I think 120 kts full and 150 kts first notch. the biggest challenges with this plane are controlling speed setting up for landing and then staying ahead. you start backing off throttle 30 nm out 1-1 or 2-2. here is demonstration of "carrier" landing by seller to my CFII. it shows that even at 1200 AGL at the numbers and tight pattern you can control the speed. he goes full flaps and then only uses speed brakes if needed. actually you have to focus more on keeping the nose down to maintain speed (110 kts until final) then slowing down. the dive does seem extreme, but it really isn't going faster than 110 in that config and that's what required to drop 1200 that tight. FYI, the plane still climbs great at full flaps and speed brakes for go around, but of course not preferred. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldgL5StzqPs
That video reminds me of the Spitfire pilot's technique except that the speeds were more like 125-130. Circular pattern to keep the runway in sight until you line up and then it is an almost blind landing when you flare. Sounds like you are going to have to sharpen game a bit but that's when it most fun.
Actually the plane feel, landing technique, and all are so similar to the Super Decathlon it isn't funny. Not anywhere close to the 172 or 182 though. That's amazing considering low wing vs. high, 4 seat vs. 2 tandem, heavy vs. light, 310 vs 180 HP. True though. They are both "sporty" verse Honda Accord like 172/182.
I also like the sweeping turn to final in a racetrack, and in a tailwheel airplane it is really nice. Rob probably doesn't remember, but here is a racetrack base to final movie he made in my airplane at Fredricksburg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiNgfcSPiKI I anticipatate my new airplane will almost require landing in a slip until near the runway. Ignoring the dragging the wing on rollout, note how this pilot slips in steeply and can keep keep fwd vision http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3kcpF5DBAo
Not mine but I have used it. I have not piloted it. Edit, the rate of climb in this thing will just about knock you out. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't know my jets, is that a Lear? Awesome, I've yet to get a ride in a private jet. My CFII and friend is typed in the Lear and now Citation 500 series, so hopefully I get a ride along soon. Jennie's boss goes on organ harvest runs and has invited me too.
