We ALL have those thoughts from time to time but I just can't see that car being parted out. That would be awful. Bob S.
Its here now, will post pics when I get it in the shop. I'll bite - what's a wakazashi, and does it come with a happy ending?
That's great! Yes, post pictures and the details. I've forgotten what the story is with the car. It was on Ebay a few times over the last year or more? The first thing I would do is sprinkle some chicken sh*t over it. Apparently that really increases it's value but only in France! ;>)) It's the ceremonial dagger used for Hara Kiri ... Bob S.
ahh....well played my friend no happy ending there then. No chicken manure but some bees flying around out of the gas filler grills...yikes! It was on ebay a year ago and seller bought it then, took it to texas and lost interest. Supposedly it was sold to him by an impound yard that got it in 1980 or so after a police chase and arrest. I'm not sure how true all that is though, it has a horrible white pearl (like 90's Cadillacs) respray, which I didn't think was even available then. But it has a CA pink slip and blue plates still, so who knows.
Do you know where I might find some french chicken sh*t? I don't think our American version is up to snuff. Or maybe some authentic italian bullsh*t?
Well you've the most important tool needed by any Espada owner. A sense of humour. Bees nest? Careful, it came from killer bees territory. Enjoy the adventure.
We could tell people they were related? ;>)) Oh it's a moot point anyway. In NJ you can't have personalized historic plates. Bob S.
Yes The ones with the "Carello" name in the middle of the lens are for the high beams, the inner ones. Philippe S2 7987
phillipe do You have the 2 stage low beam ? if so how so you achieve this? 2 bulbs in the one beam or one 2 fliament bulb? Gary
Well, its here...Now what do I do with it? Rustwise, it isn't bad bubbles on the doors and rockers, evidence of repairs behind the rear wheels. Engine turns over buy there are no keys. Horrible pearl white paint job...and they even bondo'd in the louvers in the roof. Why? Overall its a little more 'abused' than I expected, but not a big surprise. Seats have been redone, many interior parts dyed from naturale to black, drivers door latch is broken...And it smells funny. The day after I put it inside, the whole garage smelled "earthy" - like musty carpet. Whatever I do with it, it will be an adventure! Here's some shots...I got a little artsy at the end. There are some really neat shapes on these cars. Jeez, another Lambo owner with waaaaaay too much money! Look at all those cars! But I tell ya, I like how the Espada sits low in the front. I love the beat up dash, it would give me reason to change the color. Please post pic whenever you do something to the car.
If that was true I'd buy one that ran! Yes, there's something about this one that I like - might be the wheels (my new avatar) or that its sagged down a bit and looks more aggressive. I think there's a potential to build a nice car but with some minor mods...we'll see! There's just a lot to do either way but its a great learning tool. For now its 'Garage Art' haha
There's a tray under those now missing roof vents and drain hoses that route rearwards and down through the saddle style gas tank areas. All the GD drain hoses from the rear of the car (hatch too) go through there and nary a single hose clamp was used. You can guess the rest. It gets even more complicated in that gas tank area. When you get that far along we can discuss it. BTW, those aren't the only "mods" that have been done. Keep lookin'. Gandini would be appalled. It's an adventure guy. They're very unique cars that ride extremely well and are reasonably comfortable except in hot weather. Welcome aboard ... Bob S.
It can be done,it just takes time and money, not many early cars survive, attached a picture of mine after three years work Image Unavailable, Please Login
OMG! Look at the car in the middle. Sweet! I think that is the color leather that I absolutely LOVE. They both look great next to eachother.
LOL...well, I see the grill is homemade, emblems are missing, not to mention fuel filter and lines, et al under the hood. Headlights are sealed beam, parking lamps are modified... What else am I missing?
The best thing to do is to collect a lot of pictures of other cars and start comparing yours to the others. Given what one of the PO was trying to accomplish I'm surprised it still has door handles. Too bad about the LH rear glass. try Jacques at maseratisource.com. He parted a couple of these out a few years ago and he might have the glass. But I think Gary is correct. Make a list. Once that's done then you can decide what to do. Bob S.
Sorry gents not to try and change the subject here but now after a year I am putting some fun miles on my car !! Reason being I just had the rad re cored and its running now even on the hottest of days at around 85-90 celcuis. All is now complete in this area ,new water pump, new otter switch which makes first fan come on earlier, left the thermostat in (its new last year) as intended, manual dash switched fan really isnt ness now as it just doesn't get that hot. All is working AND its stock and functioning the way Ferruccio intended which makes me happy. heres a little tidbit of history... The gent now giving the task of babying my car is a 78 year old X lamborghini factory Mechanic named Ugo living and STILL working in the Greater Toronto area just 8 kms from my house. He is actually employed by the Son of a former Lambo dealer owner names Lenny . Ugo averages just 4 hours a day and works at his own methodical unrushed pace. In Italian business men refer to each other by their last name first and when I mentioned Valentino to Ugo he said in broken english that he, "Balboni" along with another gent in that dept "Mechanical repair dept" spent lots of time together back in early 70s. when I asked UGO if he had ever met Ferruccio he gave me one of those looks like "of course " . he went on to say without asking what a nice guy he was to his employees..... Ugos favorite Lambo by the way .... P400 Countach periscopo Looks like i gonna need more repairs to get more stories....that shouldn't be to hard! Gary 8394
Does anyone know of a reasonable price supplier of rubber seals for windscreen? I had one from US years ago and know they still stock them, but import costs and taxes are crazy for UK for parts probably made in the EU!! Sadly the garage who fitted the new one I gave them did so increadably incompetently and decided to bond it in and not fit it correctly and at present I think is the source of a water leak. Hope someone can help Paul Scotland UK
