    Crazy Pics!!

I would love to find a classic car in a barn and restore it myself.

From what I've heard, it's been there for 3 months and isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

By not going anywhere anytime soon, do you mean the owner is in jail or something?

I've tried buying semi abandoned cars left to deteriorate. A problem I've run into is that you are often dealing with folks who think their car in it's decrepit condition is worth the same as the latest fool's purchase from a BJ auction. This pretty much assures the car's continued decline.

My dad and I have run into that many times. I'd found a '57 T-bird that has been sitting for at least 10-15 yrs now outside in the grass. The cars used to be white but is now a very dingy green and the owner refuses to sell

No idea. I was down in Miami spotting for the weekend and he was telling me how everytime he's gone past this place, in the past three months, it's been right there and hasn't moved. He hasn't seen anyone within 10ft of that car.

Working near Laguardia, I dropped-by Gullwing Motorcars yesterday just to have a 'look around'. Gullwing has a reputation of selling 'project' cars, for the most part. What you see is what you get - some of their machines run, many don't, but all of them are special/rare to some degree, and their inventory MOVES.

What I will say, however, is that they have more cars than they have indoor space - there's an outdoor paddock down the street from their warehouse where some of the, uh, 'less valuable' machines sit outside in various states. I have seen the photographs on their website, and the machines look MUCH better in-pictures than they do in-person. Most of the Ferraris are kept inside the warehouse - the 308 GT/4, unfortunately, is kept in the outdoor paddock 'for now'.....interesting operation they have there. I did see a fully-restored, mint-condition 300SL Mercedes Gullwing with matching luggage sitting next to their Ferrari 355 they had there....just a few doors down from several rusting basket-cases they market as 'parts' cars or resto projects.

Judging by the vehicle conditions and their overwhelming lack of space, I can readily assume that their prices structure is, uh, 'very flexible'. YMMV.

it is funny to read this b/c people make the assumption, at times, that an f-chatter would take a picture of a barn full of abandoned ferraris and not buy them. first, if you are enough of a fan to be on f-chat then you probably have the brains/tenacity to keep the cars a secret and procure them for yourself vs the dream that someone will stumble on here and post pics of a goldmine and then tell you where it is and how to buy them all for cheap - the dream is just that, but the idea is funny to toss about

There are some threads on here about a batch of storm damaged cars out of Florida that have been moved around a little since, just waiting for that someday restoration. This is one of those.

I believe this is the wreckage of PanAm 103 in Lockerbie Scotland and yes that is an abandoned Ferrari 400i in the lower right corner.
