your corrrect about the us market. people in the us dont understand that there is no differance in the cars. they assume that a us version is better, eventhough both cars come from the same place.
if you don't live in the us than you dont want a us version. i would say most ferrari's are not us versions.
as for the vin #. that is a problem because the "B" which stand for the euro version is not in most states data bases. It takes a little longer to reg. but no big deal (unless the car is being reg. in the same state than they have the vin # in their data base)
If you buy a euro version for 20% less than a us version, i think you cant go wrong (as long as the correct conversion has been done)
As for resale, I looked for about a year for a 360 spider. After looking at cars and history for the problems, i decided on 03 or newer. When i ran accross this one, I could not let it slip away. Saving over $ 25,000.00 on a car that was identical to every other 360 was great and when I want to resale it I am way below what a somone would buy a us version for.
there will alway be people looking for a deal and unless you are going to put it in a glass case like a trophy, whats the big deal. if the price is right someone will buy it.

i dont think you are way over on this car. drive it AND ENJOY it. you may take a hit when you sell it but we all do with most ferraris. just consider it a life lesson. it is a great looking car no matter if it is US, euro or martian:D i probably would not do a lot of modifying or upgrades on it however as you will not likely get your money back when you sell it

have fun and drive it like you stole it:D

There's a couple of 360's down here in Charleston.. I saw one red/tan F1 at European Road and Racing a few weeks back. When I pick mine up.. (once the wife agree of course) let's have a beer.. :) Spoke with one guy down here, Drew, who was going to buy a 360 5 speed at an insane price from a gentleman upgrading to a 430.

    Cheers,

    Curt

You must be kidding. I am sitting here telling you I feel I paid 10 grand too much and you think this is a sales pitch! Cmon you must be joking. I tell you what, you bring me a check for 80k and watch me turn it down. How's that for a sales pitch! I believe I would have alot less effort just posting an ad versus spending all this time talking with you guys!!!!

Yes because it was not disclosed to me. Had it been I may have waited on the right car. I actually could have bought an 01 California Blue Spider with only 7k on it for about a grand more but thought Yellow was a much better color. So had I known the Yellow car was a Euro I would have bought the blue one for sure.

Right now you can buy an 01 Spider in Bethesda Md in California blue for 79800.00 It has 7,000 miles on it. I almost bought that car but thought blue wasn't the best color for a ferrari, so I picked the Yellow car even though it had 10,000 more miles. Like I said if I knew the Yellow car was a Euro I'd be driving the blue one right now. Oh and by the way if you found out your Ferrari was a Euro and you THOUGHT you were buying a US Spec car, you'd be pissed too...

I have to agree with this; it's too much of a stretch for someone to go to all this trouble without paying the $15 to post it in Ferrariads
btw - it's amazing that things like this continue from car dealers out of Miami...

If the buyer did his homework and took a look at the VIN, it would have been obvious that it wasn't a US market car. Failing that, I believe a simple carfax would have revealed the Euro spec origin.

Was the car supplied with DOT/EPA paperwork? Was there an homologation sticker in the door jam?

These are all things that come out with a very cursory look at things. I believe that the OP is in the car biz, right? Wasn't there something said about attracting traffic, or driving a nice car, even though he sells $20K beaters? He has got to take responsibility for some of this.

Now, if the car does not have the appropriate EPA/DOT paperwork, he may have an issue with the selling dealer, but if it has been homologated....... too bad, so sad. There is a chance that the selling dealer had no idea about the car either.

This is exactly correct. US 360s did not come with headlight washers.

The Euro stigma originates from less-than-reputable import companies executing shoddy conversions. If a company like Amerispec did the conversion, then there's nothing to worry about. As others have said, a Euro car is, in many ways, better than a US-spec model. Just enjoy it.

To the average joe first time buyer, a euro car is just some kind of black mark in what is already a scary proposition. That's what causes the price reduction. There are fewer buyers for them and those that do want a price reduction for the privilege.

The black mark may be totally irrational, but a black mark is still a black mark. As long as it's stamped on the VIN, it's never going to go away.

First, I did look at the vin but had no clue what letter determined it being a US car. Secondly the only paperwork I recieved was a clear Florida title and bill of sale. No indication from the selling dealer it was anything but a US Spec car. Now after learning alot from all of you guys I now clearly see it does have that import sticker in the door jamb. And the reasons I bought it has nothing to do with the fact that the history of the car was not disclosed.

Now about selling $20k beaters! You may want to look at my website I do not consider cars in the 20k range beaters. I have the nicest pre-owned facility in Myrtle Beach SC. So I take offense that you refer to me as sellling "beaters". There is a market for import cars in that range. Maybe you are filthy rich and only drive 6 figure cars but there are not many of those buyers in Myrtle Beach.

    Thanks anyway for your input.

    DUDE!!!

You are on a Ferrari Forum!!!

There are guys on here driving 2010 80k Lexus's as a Daily Driver and CONSIDER IT THEIR BEATER.

I don't get it... you are a used car dealer.... you buy a used car.... yet you missed some obvious details, and now feel duped and are looking for some sort of justification.

    You have some options...

    1. Get legal representation
    2. Post it for sale in the FerrariAds section
    3. Keep it and enjoy it, like you intended to do from the beginning.

    From Widepedia:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2] In addition to the offending poster, the noun “troll” can also refer to the provocative message itself, as in that was an excellent troll you posted. While the term troll and its associated action, trolling, are primarily associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels highly subjective, with 'trolling' being used to describe many intentionally provocative actions outside of an online context.

Well you might be right about what they are driving. Here is where I screwed up, first I believed that if it were a euro car it should have been disclosed as that is what I would have done and will do when I decide to sell it. I was duped regardless of what anyone says. Now my options are to keep the car, drive and enjoy it and at some point sell it and DISCLOSE it is a Euro car. And why is it that just because I am a dealer most of you think I should have automatically known what to look for? Like I said the dealer gave me no reason to believe it was anything other than what I thought I was buying. Thanks for your input!

Well I can assure you this is not a troll thread. Quite frankly I was surprised how many people responded. It just seems to be an interesting topic to discuss and I sure have learned alot and will never allow this to happen again. Thanks for your post!
