Which way should I take... up through Utah or through New Mexico. Both are about the same distance. Does one state's cops use radar more than others? Taking a pretty fast car, don't need any more tickets...

    Thanks.

when from Tuscon to Denver a while back, took Hwy 10 to I-25. You have to be careful to in Hatch NM.

We averages slightly above the speed limit for the trip.

I think I'm going to go North through Flagstaff and Utah then take the 70 over. Seems more remote, aka, less cops.

Main interstate highways will be patrolled heavily especially flagstaff to ABQ.

This is the route I take once or twice a year. Its an awesome drive very scenic and not as patrolled as the main interstate. Going through St. Johns to ABQ is much faster than flag to ABQ. Most of the time you will be the only car in sight and the roads are really good too. Some really great driving IMHO.

Here is my proposed route: PHX to St. Johns to ABQ to Santa Fe to Taos to Raton to Denver.

You can cut out some time by not going through Taos and just staying on I25 to Denver. However, I think that drive is worth the extra hour or two.

My wife and I have done that drive 10+ times over the past year alone.

I17 Phoenix to Flagstaff, stop for gas at Flagstaff

I40 Flagstaff to Albq, stop for gas at Albq

I25 north to Denver, stop for gas at Trinidad, CO

We usually stop when we do due to driving cars that get @300 miles per tank of gas.

Just did the drive from Phoenix to Vail. I went I-17 to Flag, Utah through Moab, Grand Junction to Vail. Total trip was 11 hours. I saw 4-5 Hwy Patrol on 1-17 to Flag, 2 after Flagstaff.

If you go the I-40 Route, and if you are not in a rush, there is a ton of Route 66 stuff to see from Flagstaff onwards.

Want to have fun and not all that boring interstate driving, plus chances to do 150 mph on stretches with little to no LE interference? US 60 Phoenix to Globe to St Johns to 191. 191 north and then backtrack on I40 to 191 north again. Intersect 160 at Mexican Water to Cortez and then follow 160 to near Monte Vista and north on 285 all the way to Denver. Beautiful drive. Have done all those stretches myself in cars varying from a VW Beetle to a Ferrari Daytona. You will love the drive and you will see very little LE and no other Ferraris.

I drove up through Utah and over on I-70. Funny you mention the museum - I had my car washed by Justin before putting it into storage and you guys were right next door. Had a busy schedule so couldn't stop by, but will next time.

Drive was long and about 20-25 cops - was crazy.

In my biased opinion I say Utah, it will be more scenic :)

No Gunnison. Gunnison was on the avoid list. However I did watch a movie a while back. Terminator vs. Predator 2. The best part was watching Gunnison getting nuked at the end.
