CALLING ALL DINO FANS AND OWNERS (206/246/FIAT AND STRATOS TOO!): I thought I'd start a thread about who is going to be in Monterey this August for "car week." Last year there was a rendezvous at Baja Cantina with a bunch of FCHATTERS and several Dino owners showed up. So, who is going, what are you planning on driving, what events are you going to do, and where are you planning on staying? I'm planning on driving our "new" blue 1972 246GT down from Seattle. We'll do Concorso Italiano, maybe the Quail (working on tickets now), RM, maybe the races for one day, not that interested in Pebble Beach - have done that a few times in the past and after the first it seemed like a repeat. How about you? If you don't want to do a general broadcast, you can PM or email me. Mark
I am going ! unfortunately, my daughter and her boyfriend are coming along so no Dino (hard to seat 4 adults in one). Don't get me wrong, I do like my daughter being with us since we have the same interests in cars, but I do love the Dino on hi. 1. Can't think of the name of the place we are staying this year, its 2 blocks from Cannery Row and walking distance to the warf.
im coming over from the UK - never been before! any recommendations on what to do and where to go on what day? TIA
i will be there also for the first time, will be in Laguna seca for the race on saturday. is there a fchatter meeting somewhere i could join to have a drink ?
I'll be there with my blue Dino as well. Ck in at Cypress Inn on Wed. 5 days of nothing but classic sports cars! Aloha, Mark
Last year we met up at the Baja Cantina after The Quail - I'm sure there will be more news shortly. Mark
We've rented a home in Pacific Grove, next door to Asilomar. We'll have our blue Dino, and likely either an Alfa 8C, a Mas QPorte, and/or other similar cars making the trip and staying with us. If Freeman shows up with his "new" blue Dino, and OMGJON with his, and we all get together, we could probably set a world record for blue Dinos! Mark (a different one)
I'm coming out to Monterrey in Aug and will be attending Concorso and Pebble. This will be my first time out. JIM

Last year was a little hectic for some (myself included) after the shows on Friday. Might we move the FChat meet and greet to Thursday (a night where Baja Cantina is REALLY hopping!)?? I go every year on Thursday night and the place is rocking with a parking lot FULL of nice cars. I'll work on that........
thanks for that, all i need to do is book some places for dinner, make sure the camera is fully charged and enjoy..... always wanted to go!
1. Baja Cantina - Is there an "official" FerrariChat.com meet-and-greet? If we meet at Baja Cantina Thursday (August 12) late afternoon/early evening, that would be after the FCA Pacific Region's vintage event at Chateau Julien. That would be OK with me, but maybe FerrariChat.com has other plans? 2. According to the FCA Pacific Region's calendar, the Concours on the Avenue event (August 10) in Carmel appears to have been canceled - is that correct? Mark
I will be arriving on Wednesday as I plan to see the Pebble Beach rally this year on Thursday morning so a get together on Thursday works better for me since Friday we are probably going up to SF for the day, my daughter is pushing for Great America in Santa Cruz on Friday, either way that would make dinner hard to get to.
Yes, that is unfortunately correct. See the article in the July 2nd, 2010 edition of The Carmel Pine Cone newspaper. After reading that, the real estate section is fun to read, too!
The police blotter/log for Carmel is also fun to read, with important news such as a dog observed wandering in the street, 2 clothing items reported stolen but no evidence to show that they had been stolen but still reported "just in case," a transient male observed outside of a restaurant and then later found standing in the restaurant’s wine cellar - but the restaurant manager couldn’t confirm if any wine was stolen because they do not keep an inventory. I think I need to go to that restaurant for dinner while we’re in town.
Mike - You've got my number and I've got yours, so we'll meet up with you down in Monterey (apologies to The Animals) either at the Baja Cantina or elsewhere. Mark
