Are you sure about that? - I thought I heard he was now alone at #3? A truly *great* player in any event.

Indeed! - This thread is now so long, I can't make the effort, but IIRC many had 3, if not all 4 of the semi guys as South American ;)

    +1

[And we're not even in it of course!......]

    Cheers,
    Ian

    OK :)

Do fans in Europe (South America/Africa etc?) get to vote for the "man of the match"?

"They" pitch it quite hard here on ABC/ESPN.

    Cheers,

Here on TV, they said Ronaldo ranked first with 15, Müller and Klose 14. Apparently, Klose scored more goals through this World Cup than in the whole last season.

    :)

    How wonderfully politically correct! :)

So, you're saying the whole Nike commercial series (I'll find links later) was promoting "the pretty game"!...... Uh-oh!..... ;)

"Jogo beleza" is what we want then, right?......

    Cheers,

Never heard of that. Nearly every newspaper however declares one player "man of the match" or has some kind of winner/loser rankings.

    +1 on the newspaper "comments".

The "Budweiser man of the match" however is open for voting from around 60minutes in until some time after the final whistle - Dunno how long after, but he's announced in the post game show(s?) - I *think* (but can't find it right now) that there are many 100k's of votes..... [Which is kind of why I asked if anyone here has voted ;)]

    Cheers,
    Ian

Cool! Didn't you promise pix? ;)

*Very*, very cool comment! Was "the whole of Africa" behind Ghana earlier? - I don't think I've ever heard of "the whole of Africa" getting behind *anything*! :)

    Cheers,
    Ian
PS - Even a "remote" roar from a live stadium is awesome, huh? :) Glad everyone's behaving - Hope it continues.

    Ian.......

Yep......."the beautiful game" is the english phrase often used to describe futebol. Nike didn't hire a Portuguese translator....they used a Spanish one.

You'll also hear people say "beleza" to describe something cool that has just happened......

Who can stop this German side? Spain can. I really thought with their slow backline they would be exposed today, but once they got that early goal they finished the first half countering brilliantly and restricting the Argentine movement in midfield. This is where Maradona's ridiculous team selections come undone. Having no creative midfielders and relying on Messi to do all your work was going to come undone eventually.

And what of the Germans? An impressive performance for sure, but I still see weaknesses in their game. What happens once they are truly tested against a dominant midfield who play a possession game? I think that is their weakness.

A fully flying Spain with Xavi Iniesta etc playing well would restrict this German team of their deadly counterattacks.

Man I love this game! So many different opinions from everyone, and they can all be justified; that's what makes it so unique!

OK, I'm finally here in the main thread.

    The Netherlands will beat Uruguay.

Not sure what'll happen in the Germany vs. Spain game, but I'm leaning towards a German victory.

So my prediction is Germany vs. Netherlands in the final.

    Should be exciting. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Here are some pictures I took yesterday on the "fan walk"....estimate was around 200 000 people in Cape Town yestereday! As you can imagine the vibe was something else, weather as you all no doubt saw was perfect. Me, well I think the final should have been played in Cape Town, the most beautiful city in South Africa by far!

I think it will be a Dutch - Spanish final. In which case I have no idea who would win.

Having a look at the media reports about the current atmosphere in the German team, I get the impression that they start to get carried away a bit... just like after the 4:0 against Australia. They lost against Serbia after that. Call me a pessimist, but I doubt that they'll win against Spain!

I've been to that dealer. July 2000...they had a yellow 360 Spider in the showroom (not for sale). Ferrari lent it to them for promotional purposes for the Spider that would come out a little after that. I have the pictures in an album somewhere...used the SLR so no digital then, lol.

Dunga was just fired today along with the entire Brasilian coaching staff.

    Parabens CBF !!!!!

As far as Spain is concerned......they were soundly defeated by Paraguay even though the eventual score was 1 X 0 in their favor........so I expect them not to go far. I am predicting a Germany/Uruguay final.

I don't give the German team any chance against Spain. It will be the same as in the EC Final two years ago where the Germans were totally dominated by the Spaniards. They will posess the ball and dominate the Game, the German side cannot play the same tactics as against England and Argentina. To reach the semi-final was more than anyone could expect from this side.

    My pediction:
    Spain-Germany 3-1
    Netherland-Uruguay 2-0

So it will be Spain vs. Netherlands in the Final.

    3:1 Germany.

Spain is looking pathetic. The young German strikers will run cirlcles around the confused Spainiards. Loew is very organized.
He has a clear strategy on how to attack each team.

Germany was a man down and still dominated Serbia but for the missed PK ended up losing.

Spain has no functioning offense right now. They are lucky if they can score one goal in a game. That won't be enough against Germany who will score at least 2 or 3.

This team is nothing like the EC final two years ago. Just compare the line up. It's nothing like it.

    Ned-Ger in the final.

Spain are better than Germany, but Germany have the form.

Final will be Holland vs Spain IMO !
