    OK, I have taken off the rear diaper and the US bumper (damn, that thing is heavy!) I want to save the original rear bumper shocks and have the MACarbon tubes that I would like to put in there place. I am digging through the trunk but have come to what looks like a bottom heat shield under the US trunk that seems to be riveted in place. So how am I supposed to get to the US bumper shocks?!

    Ah the discussions I have had regarding that piece...anyway, mine isn't riveted in, but it was a MAJOR pita to get out when I was trying to get to my "Quattrovalvole" and "308" emblems.

    It took two of us about an hour to get it out (working together). Since yours is riveted in, I am interested to hear the experts' advice on how to get it out. I have left mine out for the short term for a number of reasons, but still have it in one piece.

    You may want to put this question in the technical Q&A so that the heavy hitters can give you a solid response...

    Are you going to reinstall the US bumper after? I'm anxiously awaiting pics of how far in this will move things. I just removed the spacer and moved the US bumper in 2 inches, here's a pic.

    I can't help much, but I have seen upwards from underneath as my car had some damage to the aluminum under just above the muffler. I know you don't want to go in that way.

    I suppose directly underneath that top panel is where the shocks live.

    go easy there mate, that white insulation may contain asbestos.

    on the gt4 there is a little cover and closet for the shock. On the fronts they bolted from under, maybe the later 308's bolted from the bottom. I have found no matter how much i think there isn't access to a certain part if you look long enough you will find it look in your WSM

    MA Carbon makes rear shorties too?? I did the fronts, but wasnt aware there were shorter tubes for the rear

    Just looked on MA Carbon's website and didnt see any rear bumper shortener tubes, where did you get them, and how much do they push the rear bumper in?

    I just went through my stuff and realized these are the front shorties and that they don't have a set for the rear. My mistake! That means I need to grind the existing bolt holes to create a slot for the Rennspeed bumpers to fit. I was trying to avoid that on the original bumpers but this is the solution I have seen here on FChat. I guess I just need to get up the courage to take the grinder to my car!

    I saw your PM and responded... didn't realize you had posted here too.

    It was either 18 or 20 gauge Stainless, I don't remember but I'll check the next time I'm over at the shop.
