there goes any chance of it going on certified SPA carby runs. Not that these powerbrokers will be controled by a SPA. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those documents are a perfect example of the potential problems with Classiche certifcation - when the records of the factory and the importer don't match. M
If your happy with the way your club is going along, why would you risk signing and handing control to others?
A quick Google search shows 2 Ferrari clubs in the USA .... the non-official one seems to have a hell of a lot more events going on around the country. Lets say the FCA signs over control to SpA , , if everything has to pass muster with them and they simply don't get around to it do we not have events ?? ........... is this what is happening in the USA ?? Can an official Ferrari club (in Australia) take part in events with other car clubs who have conflicting sponsorship ? What if the Lambo or Maserati club invite us to an event and they have their sponsors flag / banner there ? Do we not go ?
The dealer in the UK that delivered my car screwed up the engine serial number on their paperwork at the point of registration with my car. Subsequent official dealer services failed to pick up the error. In 2007 I checked with Ferrari UK direct and they confirmed the numbers on my car are correct and the paperwork is wrong. Great attention to detail from all the big names servicing the thing for decades ........ Not.
say like an italian car day or a track day. You would think the people pushing to sign, would hope the vote would fail and thus they could move onto there factory whatever club, dumb IMO that they would push for it to get over the line.
Good question, this is what the page 19, section 2.7 of the Ferrari owners club guidelines states: "We would like to avoid, that a competitor of our official partners becomes a supporter of a Ferrari Owners Clubs and, for this reason, you can find on the following page the updated list of the main sectors in which operate Ferrari S.p.A. partners." So basically if the sponsor of the event is a competitor of Ferrari, or even a competitor of one of Ferrari's commercial partners listed in the owners club document , the answer would be that the FCA would be in breach of the agreement. The whole pathetic rules document can be downloaded from: www.fcacontract.com, select Item 5
More i think of it,how dumb are those pushing to sign it,it would be better for them if the vote failed. Then they could set up there own little club with SpA support. Is a proxy vote the same as a donkey vote?
It's usually the Italians that screw up with the record keeping on the cars, and then refuse to admit it. IMHO the classiche program is not about protecting the heritage of the cars, it's just a cynical way of extracting money from an owner of a car that has ceased to become part of Ferrari's income stream, because the dealer no longer knows how to service it and Ferrari no longer bother to make parts for it. So Ferrari have dreamed up an arrangement to look at and photograph the car then compare it against their unreliable records and charge the owner 5K plus for the privilege of putting all the info in a nice folder. This is of course much more profitable than actually trying to supply parts for older cars (something that Mercedes and Porsche both try to do.) And the recent introduction of the "yellow book" classiche certification (under which a period reconstructed car can be certified ) is an example of how far Ferrari will compromise their "heritage" in the chase for the almighty $$$. Agree... it's such a cyncial operation. Disgraceful. Despite what the fanbois might think, Enzo was a malignant prick as well. However, in his defence I suppose he didn't pretend to be anything else. I love the old Ferrari sports racers in spite of Ferrari corporate culture (or lack thereof) then and now.
