Enzo was no saint, that's for sure. You might like this book: Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races, the Machine. by Brock Yates (1991).

Good old Item 5 is going to make simple things a real chore. Take for example page 20 in the www.fcacontract.com where it lists items where co-marketing activities sponsorship are listed.

Does the term sponsorship discriminate between incidentally displaying competitors logos and an actual paid advertisement in the official magazine ? No money changed hands but there is several logos and advertising signage that is clearly visible in Volume 42 of HorsePower.
Chrysler is the obvious one .......... on page 19
    NRMA Insurance .........................on page 32
Solo soft drink .......................... on page 18

Each of these things are covered under " Cars, Vehicles, Related Products
and Services " and " Food, Beer and Coffee ".

I don't think any are co-marketers with Ferrari , , would photo submissions to the magazine and web site have to be scrutinised for these things ?

Thanks, M. It's one of those books that I've been meaning to read, but haven't got around to doing so. However, I certainly recall that when it was released, some of the more 'ardent' tifosi issued a death fatwa on Brock Yates (in terms not dissimilar to that issued by the Ayatollah on Salman Rushdie).

    Yup, that's the book !!!.

And while it's been a while since I read it, I don't recall forming the impression that the book was particulary unflattering towards Enzo....
Personally I've always found it remarkable that he started the car company when he was around 50 years old, and then spent most of his 60's and 70's building it up, at a time when most people are well and truly retired.

Well, you're making me even more intrigued to read it! :) Here's a review from amazon.com that tallies with my (admittedly childhood) recollections of tifosi perceptions of the book at the time it was released:
"This book goes into viewing not only the glamorous part of the commendattore's life, but mostly the darker side. Mr Yates takes a very interesting position, he gives the impression that dislikes italians and praises germans, english and americans in the auto industry, and that this book was written to expose the "dark-side" of Ferrari. The linking of Enzo Ferrari to the Mafia and to the Fascist governments seems a little far fetched. All in all I believe this book was written to discredit Ferrari and all the history and triumph behind them."

    http://www.amazon.com/Enzo-Ferrari-Cars-Races-Machine/dp/0385263198

I certainly remember reading about the controversy caused by Yates' book and tifosi outrage in a contemporary issue of Wheels (I think it may have been a Peter Robinson piece... not sure... my memory's not that good). :p

    Very true, M. I'm sure being a meglomaniac didn't hurt. :)

The yes vote has to be 75%, that means the NO vote only has to be 26%.

    Am I right here?

Yes, correct, so you need to make sure everyone you know votes NO.
Your voting papers were sent on Monday, I assume you have them by now?

    Yep.

For the life of me I can't see why anyone who has been in the club 10 years or more would vote yes.

Let them start up a new club.

Is there anything to say you couldn't be a member of both anyway?

    Wise words from the Horse-man.

It's going to be interesting to call their bluff, somewhat like Krudd's double dissolution election threat over his ETS.

Ferrari will have to seek a court-imposed injunction to stop us using Ferrari Club Australia, as we own the name. Won't that make for some embarrassing media coverage?

On the other hand, if the vote goes the yes way, then those who made that decision are welcome to their "new" Ferrari club, while the rest of us go elsewhere. Would be interesting to see how the new FCA would function, seeing as 90% of the (unpaid) work today is done by long-term members.

The big problem I see is the "yes" people chasing everyone they can for their Proxies.

Yes, I heard that LB encouraged the members to vote Yes at the Qld concours. Sad.
She thinks that Ferrari won't bother enforcing the contract.

I don't agree that we can rely on "flying under the radar".

Let Ferrari SPA start their own club.
