Not a vs but more of a simple comparison thread. 348 vs 355

I like my car mainly because it is more fun to drive on the street, everydaylike. It feels tightly wound too and very well balanced around the turns. The 355 I like for the extra 1000 rpm. Frankly, the only reason I have the 348 is because it is a SS model. I was looking for a '95 355 B, but now that I think about it, how many 348 SS cars do you see on the road vrs. 355's? Now if they made a 355 SS, man oh man! (and no the prettied up Fiorano package isn't quite the same).

 

That is illegal and unsafe. I am happy with my insurance rates, and with my driver's license, and with my Ferrari and I being in one piece. The sort of driving you are referring to is meant for a track, and that is exactly what the police in this area will tell you when they pull you over.

 

Then buy a Miata.

I had a 1998 F355. Its a fun car if you are going for a cruise through some twisties.

But for anything else I found it kind of boring. Made me miss my viper.

You have to really enjoy wringing out the revs to have fun in a 348/355. If you want any low end torque at all they are not your car(s)

 

By the way, what area are you from? Your profile is blank...are you in the London area?

 

That is all because 99% of these cars are not set up right. And 80% of them are owned by people who drive them like a family car.

 

I am north of Toronto a bit and the roads are awsome all over this province once you get out of the city.

 

More than anything this thread shows the different feels of different years of 355, and the dramatic difference intake and exhaust changes can make to an otherwise stock car.

Drive MANY cars- I've said this before- for those of us ni Ferrari-bare areas- Take a four day weekend trip to Southern Cal or Southern Florida where there are TONS of 355s and 348s available- Call ahead- make sure they know your name- i was able to drive over 20 cars before I commuted to a 99 355.

My car has a GruppeM Carbon fiber Intake system and a Quicksilver Stage 3 exhaust- and it feels insanely quicker and torquier than any of the recent Boxsters I've driven- and about as torquey as my 2002 Carrera- high end is sublime- the car pulls so hard from 3500K to 8K...just fantastic- I've also found the 355 to be about as sensitive to tire and air pressure changes as anything I've driven- I'm on Goodyear F1 Assyms right now and handling is transformed.
