Btw, I was @ Eurospeed auto & saw a strange red 355GTS with ugly chromed wheels, strange proportions & beidge seats, cross-stitched. It look pretty mint.

Took a closer look & realised that it's probably an MR2 conversion! It even has the Designo Pininfarina logo by the sides & a decent engine deck but a wee bit short & wheels "tucked" under. Has all the correct F badges.

Wonder who would want to own it by now.

Yah, container shipping is still fighting excess capacity but they made a concerted effort to up rates to stem the red ink hence higher rates from late last year onwards. If you guys need Regent's number, PM me. Good bunch and I would use them again when the time comes to bring the boxer home :). Trouble is... When I mentioned the Boxer, Ben looked at me and said " these cars very tempermental, you know...". But the sheer beauty and rarity of the car still beckons..

BTW, Jon - You want to join ECC or not?? I feel like I am chasing a girl playing hard to get! :D

Sounds great, if family time permits. I would be keen. As for drives Down under, the speed traps alone would make for an expensive tour! I really don't know of many countries that allow you that kind of speed that we do on the NS except Germany. And we have to cruise at 130 and below, might as well use normal car or rent a lux car over there for the cost of shipping our cars.

I m not so sure about the design of the car. only thing i like that's nice are the doors. i dont think merc knows how to built a ferrari or lambo competitor. the original gullwing looks better.

Awesome. Wonder how much moolah was put into the production of this video but judging the ram & speed=physics, we could very well do it with one of our high powered cars. Not that I would do it :D

It sounds good when being floored. U guys should hear it soon.

Do it man. U have 3yrs to register it after it's here, so like I say. Buy it now while it's affordable, keep it in UK etc then mail it over when time's ripe.

Was reading up Forza & Michael Sheehan did a write up on values of Ferraris. Two 275s, an alloy & metal body were sold for a staggering USD1.25-1.55million each. Pre-Fiat days Ferrari continue to appreciate while 360 are dime a dozen since they made over 18000 of them. 80s ones are stucked there due to the exorbitant engine-out job. While the 70s are gaining 10% per year.

ECC= so what muz I do? It's a limited edition right? Do I get to choose a number (sounding like a gal) :D

Can I chip in ideas? We could very well make it into a multi-role club. Have classic car chapter, rallies, races, trackdays, holiday trips, factory visits & Changi track coming up next year. Get license for Goodwood etc.

My idea of Cameron drive etc is to bring family or partner along :)

That's true! France is not so friendly either but Italy is pretty fine. China cities are quite strict too, I did a midnight red-light dash @ night & somehow they caught me without flash & was on a countryside road with speedtrap signs but couldn't see anything other than century old houses but got caught too :(

How's Japan? They should have amazing roads, Derek?

I agree! You are right to say that merc does not know how to built a comparable rival to the italians, but I believe that If merc can be bothered to, they definitely can. Look at the AMG engines supplied to Pagani Zondas. With those engines, Pagani managed to be a direct rival to ferrari and lambo. Maybe Mercedes is trying not to derail from what they are supposed to be in the first place, manufacturers of luxury vehicles.

There are a lot of rumors saying that the ad is fake. Well in theory, its possible. TopGear's attempt doesn't look too shabby. But one thing for sure, it does take a lot of guts and balls to pull off something like that!

And I dare say that AMG makes the BEST exhausts note, if not one of the best for stock exhausts. Their V8 grunt is extremely mind blowing! I have to share the love!

Just listen to that start up! I have yet to hear one live though. :(

The only road I've cruised is the long straight near Changi Airport (PIE?). Windows down and the tunes from Class 95, and that is enough to end my night with a smile.

Problem with Boxers is that they are asking for high prices, 80++k pounds so no recession sale at all despite all that the UK has experienced. Only plus is the FX rate and cheap shipping. Going to view some end of the month but bringing them back will cost something similar to OSG's Dino. A bit OTT for just 28 days a year.

ECC? Will mail you the love letter when I get to the other computer. Yah, ideas will always be nice esp with a fellow classic freak.

Errr, I thought the SLS is the first vehicle built almost entirely in-house by AMG?

Dude, don't wait till it becomes 300 thousand pounds! Then u're going to kiss goodbye!

My say is still to keep it in Malaysia. Pay about 50k ringgit for the AP for "freehold" usage & 25% rd tax, no Vicom, no satellite ERP :D Use the money you saved from OMV to buy a house from Fong in Johor to keep it ;) Or one of those @ Leisure Farm.

My JB friend bought a house by the new Marina for just 4million ringgit with a berth for boat, very much like our Sentosa Cove. That's "just" the price of an apartment here!

Keep in JB is a good idea but will the car still be there one weekend when I open the garage?? And who will service the car in JB or got to tow to Ben's place? The new Marina, you referring to Danga Bay?

Alamak, by now you should be able to do own oil svc yeah? Are you getting the carb or elect. injector version? Both will be temperamental in our weather & esp. if not driven often. Can consider motec or other form of engine mgt systems to make it reliable plus better performance.

Otherwise, can always flat-bed it over or drive Ben over! IMHO, those 70-80s Bosch systems can be rectified by any experienced mechanics & there are more of these chaps in KL & possibly JB.

Otherwise, the rest should be quite easy to manage on your own.

The new Marina is nearer to the Tuas side & there's a website to visit. The govt is quite serious with the Nusajaya project & been getting some serious investors in the IDR.

that much .. I was once told shipping was less than 10k?

the arabs send their cars back and forth like they're going to the supermarket .. so I assume import rego & insurance is relatively easy to come by

you should check with ES .. didn't they do something with the SV's & Crown Casino last year?
