Despite sharing some team members http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/85051 Two tracks two teams.......
If (IF) they make it to the grid, won't they then be a year behind the new teams this year, who will still be rolling chicanes next year? Will it look like they're driving in reverse next to Red Bull?
Fair or not, the USF1 debacle has made it much harder for any US team to appear credible. Press releases won't cut it.
Fine. They're legit. They deserve to be judged separately from past failed efforts. But seriously guys--Cypher??? You could have named your team anything, and you went with something cryptic. We'll all be standing there applauding if/when you arrive at the starting grid next season. But in the mean time, don't waste any of yours or our time whining about skepticism.
Are they based in Charlotte NC....Capital of the US Carbon Fiber Industry, loaction of the strongest carbon fiber in the world and home to the mighty purveyor of toasters and pure PR BS? PW....we hardly knew ya!
Any new team is not going to be expected to be a frontrunner in its first years so give them a break! Jeez every team had to start somewhere!
ok naysayers, consider this: summerton was supposed to be a USF1 driver but USF1 couldn't pass summerton's BS filter so the deal was never completed. the fact that summerton has a deal with cypher indicates one of 2 things. either cypher has raised the cash (or rather commitments for cash), or summerton is now quite desperate and sees a deal with a US effort as his best chance.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/85092 Summerton was being lined up for one of the US F1 seats when the team collapsed, and when asked by AUTOSPORT why Cypher will be a success, he said: "Well for a start they're a straight-up group who know what it takes. "They've said from day one that they won't enter unless they have the funding to do it properly - and that in my eyes goes a long way. They are also a very serious and realistic group of people with world championship experience.
so summerton has put out some PR, eh? that indicates the 2nd of my two possibilities is the correct one: he is desperate.
