Announcement and press release Friday morning. I would guess, yes, a chance to pick up some additional $, as neither Yamamoto or Senna has much chance of good finish.

Article says "for Silverstone" but I wonder if HRT will even finish the season. Bruno must kicking himself for not signing with Lotus.

HRT has been playing games with Senna lately: They wouldn't tell him whether he'll be able to participate in Friday's practice or not. Reason being is that allegedly he hasn't paid all his bills yet.

Kinda sad when a Senna is a pay driver. Then again, this one has as much talent as most of the diluted kids have.

The name means nothing. Look at Piquet.

    Yup.

And Sheckter, Surtees, Lauda, Fittipaldi, Andretti, Schumacher, Mansell and I'm probably forgetting a few.

Exception to the rule: Hill and Villeneuve

Heh, and they shared a common bond in that they both had the best car in the field by far when they won the WDC.

    Good point.

But Jacques was more than that: I realize he doesn't get much credit on here and everybody loved his dad (me included), but the cold hard truth is, that Gilles too sat in the best car of the field. Twice and didn't get the title. Once because he was a gentleman and once because he succombed to the red mist.

Say what you want about Jacques, but he maximized his chances when he had them.

True, he also won the Indy 500, which is no small feat. If he could win LeMans he would have quite the resume...

Hooray. So few seem to remember that.

and best car or not, he got pole in his first ever F1 race and would have won were it not for mechanical issues.

I loved watching him in indy cars. When he left I stopped watching.

Back on topic though, while young Senna may or may not have tons of talent, Yamomoto was WAY off even Chandock's pace in practice today, and Senna has been quicker than Chandock more often than not. Admittedly Senna and Chandock have had much more time in the car, but Yamamoto has more F1 experience than either, albeit with other backmarker teams.

To be honest, he was the only one who posed a threat to hamilton in Gp2. Hamilton has proved to be a very good driver no doubt about it, but it sometimes makes you wonder what Piquet was doing in F1. Sure, he didn't have the car Lewis had and perhaps not as much support as Alonso got. On second thoughts, I don't even care. Never liked him or his dad.
