If it makes you feel any better, I saw the car at Wil's and was aware of the history and did not buy it either. Feel any better?

Well, it was great to win Best Lambo at Le Belle Macchine, but do you think I had the foresight to bring a camera? Unfortunately, no, I do not have any pictures myself but will check to see if anyone else took some. I'm a pretty low key, inconspicuous guy -- that's why I drive a Countach. :)

You are indeed a pretty low-key guy.

But no worries, AsianGuy brought his camera.

Here is 12670, an Anniversary Countach, Best Lambo from a crop ranging from 350 GT to Murcielago.

    What can I say?

Congratulations on 12670's 15th Concours award.

Hey, thanks. By the way, that's me and my attractive legs and flowered shirt off the rear flank of the car. Despite the temptation, let's keep this out of the "Pretty girls with Lambos" thread... :)

Are the U.S. fuel injected Anniversarys rarer than thier Euro downdraft counterparts? I dont recall seeing all that many, in real life or on the net. What sort of numbers are we talking.

    Much rarer.

I'm doing this remote so my numbers will be close if not exact:

    Fuelie Annivs - 187
    Carb Annivs - 470

So you can see that of the 657 + cars built, the fuelie cars are more than twice as rare as the carb cars.

Max Bobnar wasn't the only one who thought about putting turbos on to a Countach engine. The factory displayed a mock-up twin turbo engine at the 1979 Frankfurt Motor Show and Bob Wallace turbo charged 1121176. In addition, two turbos were actually installed into a LP400S in Australia in 1984, only to be removed later because the car was apparently 'too powerful for the road', (or maybe too unreliable;-). I don't know which car that was though. There is also a supercharged Countach running around the place as well, 1121288 if my memory serves me correctly.

    Thanks for posting!

I've always wondered if there was a picture or more info on the 79 Frankurt Motor show. I had heard there was a silver Countach used in the show and wondered if it was mine, although its build date does not seem to work in the timeline. Any idea what Countach was used in the show?

Sadly, no. I'm always keen to find out what cars were actually featured on the Lamborghini, or Bertone, stands at the various motor shows, especially the ones from the 60s, 70s and 80s. I have some details of show cars, (although they're possibly buried in storage in New Zealand where the bulk of my archive resides), but not the ones you're after sorry.

That is scary that you somehow have a picture of me from Sunday in the little town of Chatham, NJ! Now I'm getting paranoid. By the way, I have my Lamborghini Tractor hat on in that picture -- I'm sure that others are out there, but I have never seen one.

So if 1121176 is one, and 1121254 is another, what's the third one?

Sorry Kerim! I didn't see it.

It looks like a fantastic motor! Very well documented!
