I was following a friend a couple of weeks ago that has a 01 360 couple with heavy mods and his car sounded like a Stradale regarding downshifting . . . . . . You could hear the pressure of the F1 when he downshifted. Once we stopped I asked him how he got his car to sound like a Stradale, he responded that he installed a Stradale TCU (transmission control unit). A plug and play with a SD2 to fine tune it.

SO I went on the hunt for one. A week ago I get a call from Bill while I am in a meeting and see it Bill calling. I excuse myself HOPING he has something fun to discuss . . . Robert, I found a TCU for your car do you want it. YES

So I get it and it was installed yesterday. WOW, just WOW. The shifts are completely different then the OEM and not to mention the amazing sound it produces through my Tubi NGT with Hyper Flow cats and some aftermarket custom fat ass tips.

    Blip, Blip, Blip . . . . . . .

thanks again Bill for all your help

    Derek,
I can NOT believe what a difference the stradale TCU actually made. Within 20 minutes the car was on the road and feels like a completely different car.

What are you doing with your car ??? What made you part it out ???

    thanks for the TCU

Robert- We have an equivalent for the 575M called an HGTC TCU that I would like to install in my car. Did you have to use an SD2 to set up the TCU or did it just exchange?

I took my car to the shop and they installed it and YES they HAD to use the SD2. I would suggest taking your car to a shop and letting the professionals install it. Very easy to install but the real work was setting the car up correctly via the SD2.

    hope this helps

I've been saying this for a long time. TCU makes a considerable difference.

... And doing the Strad Ignition software maps does the same to the engine too. The throttle maps are just so sensitive it feels like your driving a different car.

Robert- Thanks. From what the WSM says, the TCU stores quite a bit of data and that definitely would require an SD2 to get it set up properly.

WAY TO GO !! You got a great deal for sure, and I'm confident the smile will last a long long time!

The Stradale TCU, back when they were under $2k were a great deal. Now, not so much.

I went with the CS TCU change on my 360 spider last year. I really like the improvement. Bought mine from Ricambi America.

On the change you are recommending for the ignition software maps, are you suggesting replacing the entire ECU (both of them), or is there a reflash that can be done? I was of the impression that the ECUs are tied to the alarm system, so it isn't just plug'n'play. Trev, have you done this change yourself?

    Thanks.
