You guys should really cut it out.

Where is the incentive for a current owner to agree that the price of their model is dropping fast?

It is worth what someone else wants to pay. Pretty car, hope someone picks it up for a decent price and enjoys it.

    Scott,

I don't believe I ever said you made me an offer on the car, not even a low offer. If that was implied I do apologize.

For the record, no actual dollar figures were ever discussed between Scott and me pertaining to my 348 ever.

Scott you made it very clear that you were looking for an SS or later car. My interpretation of that is you were contacting me with the idea that if you couldn't find what you were looking for than maybe you would be able to get my high mileage beater for cheap.

As far as some of our private exchanges went I do believe I even apologized very early on for having short answers to some of your questions. I explained to you that I have been bombarded by people with questions on this car and goofy lowball offers and was just a bit testy over the whole thing. A phone call to the number listed would also have gotten you a lot nicer attitude as I would have taken you more seriously and been able to explain things in greater detail.

From now on I will not answer any PM’s or emails about my car. If you are serious buyer you will pick up the phone and call me.

The remark about why would I keep that crap" sounds about right. Why would I? I only have so much room in my home and the storage of old parts really don’t fit in with the wife’s idea of shared space. I never got the O.E. wheels when I got the car and didn’t care. As far as the brake stuff, I sold it all. A pile of cash or a pile of parts....cash won. I never thought that these are going to be collectable so hanging on to a pile of brake parts didn't make much sense. I do have the rotors in a corner somewhere as well as the original dead pedal and rubber inserts for the door sills. Those should be worth the price of admission LOL:D

Yep, I have used Capital One twice in the past. Once for a 1980 Corvette and once for a 2001 Durango. Never missed a payment, both loans paid off early. From my experience about 18 months ago, Capital One now won't even loan for a purchase from a used car dealer unless they are affiliated with a major auto manufacturer. So if you find a nice car at the local corner used car lot, Capital One will not give you a loan for it. Even with my clean history with them they would not loan me the money to buy my 348. And in fact they also now have an age limit on the cars they loan against. The 1990 348 I bought fell outside that age limit. Thank goodness for the exotic car loan specialists that are out there. At least there are still ways to finance a car if you have the credit rating to back it up. Not a good time to be selling.

Jeff, I think 3 years ago it was more like $55,000, no? At least here in Canada it was, you couldn't find one for under $60,000 (excluding neglected models etc...)

John--thanks for that. To be fair, I have dealt with a fair amount of crap, outright lying, deceptions, etc., etc. from other sellers (not John) I have contacted over the years. I think John and I have a different approach--I prefer to hammer out the basic details via e-mail and then pick up the phone, I think John is more comfortable starting with the phone.

And John is spot on in that I really want a newer car--but would consider an older car but the price spread (from my idea that 50K is the right price for a good SS) has to make sense in my mind.

P.S. John, I really really don't consider your car a beater. I have just started looking for this particular car, and for some reason the old parts matter to me. I understand why you don't have them (storage issues + unhappy wife or no storage issues + happy wife--I get it). I have storage room, and I have pack-ratted almost all of the parts that have come off of the cars I currently own (not replacement things like hoses, but upgrades like suspension bits, steering wheels, and so on).

I think that is a good idea. Remove your email address and phone # from the ads, and leave only a phone #. That should eliminate the pretenders (this statement is in no way, shape, or form directed at anyone who posted in this thread)

John, your car is a gem, and deserves a decent home and someone who will continue to take very good care of it.

    Good luck with the sale.

That is in loonies and you have to be looney to spend $60 on a 348 :) Too bad I couldn't find a Canadian who wanted my 348 when I sold it 4 years ago, I should have asked $75K for it instead of $42

I'm guessing you were referring to whomever offered you $20K and not me. But for the record I haven't been 16 in 22 years and have owned or own a 4 Ferraris including a 91 348 tb that had comparable mileage to yours and a fresh service to yours when I sold 4 years ago for $42K after purchasing a TR

Of course I was refering to the person who offered me 20k and not you. I'm sure it was just some kid goofing around or some cheap wholesaler looking to dump it on a lot somewhere on the coast.

No offense meant to you in any way.:)

I just can't believe that there isn't someone willing to pony up 40k for this thing. I know to some the modifications aren't worth much but then there are guys that love this stuff like me and would rather buy turn key at a discount rather than pay to have it all done themselves. So where are you guys?????

It's driving season! Well, for most of you. It's hotter than hell here and nobody wants to do anything but float in the pool.

First off, I am not your pal, and since you are so concerned with the sleeping habits of another male, perhaps you can open a 12th garbage plant in San Fransisco. That may be a better spot than Iowa for you.

Another liberal member of the "How to win friends and influence people", cool aid drinker crowd. Your personal attack reveals your level of intelligence. If you have to resort to that, you have no game. Perhaps, the Iowa connection or your life in trash has left you intellectually bankrupt?

Older Ferrari's have traditionally turned into collector cars. Daytonas, Dinos, Lussos, SWB, etc, are all old Ferraris. Not allot of $5K moaning going on there.

Before you open your mouth, you should think, and actually know who you are talking to. I have no shortage of stamps in my passport and have seen some pretty nasty places, and if you think that couldn't happen to us (given the current climate and players involved), you are either stupid, or simple. Even if you take a cursory look at what is going on, and whom surrounds the president, you would see that there are people with marxist tendencies at the helm of this ship. Here you go 'smart guy':

Van Jones.....Green Jobs Czar. Founder of marxist group, STORM. Self proclaimed communist and revolutionary. Was White House green jobs advisor who was bragged about by Valarie Jared, that his activities in the '90s were what they wanted in the White house. That was STORM and communist movements. Communist.

Donald Berwick. Recess appointee to run Medicare/medicaid believes in redistribution of wealth, and that is the purpose of healthcare...... marxist

Ron Bloom.....Car Czar. Anti free market person Quoted, "The free market is dead. We (the administration) agrees with Mao that power comes from the barrel of a gun. Should anyone running the USA be agreeing with Mao? Marxist.

Cass Sunstein, regulatory czar. Wants to eliminate meat, hunting and guns. Aslo wants to limit free speech, primarily on the internet.... marxist.

John Holdren, Science Czar. Advocates forced sterilization and abortions on parts of the population..... I believe the Nazi's tried this stunt. Marxist.

Rev J. Wright. Long time pastor and friend of over 20 years. Preaches black liberation theology, which is a synonym for redistributive change...... marxist

The overspending that is leading us over the abyss is a classic Cloward and Piven move from the '60s, brought to fruition by progressives and marxists that we have in power.

The recent voter intimidation charges against the New Black Panthers that were dropped by the DOJ, that was revealed due to a 'policy change' that "no civil rights cases of black perps against white victims will be prosecuted", may not be marxist, but sure stinks.

I could go on, but I have better things and people to waste time on. But I have to make one last observation, since you are such a big shot with 11 garbage plants, if you are dickering over a few grand over a pleasure item you are either a huge PIA or your ego and business might be a tad overinflated.

Here is my personal observation as a new member of the brotherhood, however not new to Ferrari ownership. I agree with you wholeheartedly with your above statements. People need to pick up the phone and have a conversation. It is almost like they go out of their way not to-I hate dealing with emails when I am trying to sell a car, so I feel your frustration.
While I also feel your frustration in not getting what you feel you deserve for you car, I think you have been coming across a bit harsh. You started this thread by asking for an opinion on why your car hasn't sold. Scotty wrote a well thought out, constructive and sensitive response, free from any attacks. Your response to him was really harsh IMO, and while I am sure you are a good guy in person, and frustration has driven you to your current tone, I think you should reconsider your approach. The market currently sucks right now and if you want to sell something, you are at the mercy of the buyers. If this bothers you, then don't sell. I have been in a similar spot as you, however when I have made a decesion to sell something, I sell it. My thought process is that sometimes you win some and sometimes you loose some. In the end you will gain with something else. Finding an appreciative new owner would make up the difference in what you are not getting in $$$ from my perspective.

This is very true. I sold my last Ferrari for less because after spending time with the buyer it became obvious that this car was his boyhood dream as it was for me. I realized in short time that my blessings have been many and if I did not massage the price this dream was not going to be realized. I just knew that i needed to do something to make this mans dream a reality. Why? I don't know. I just did. I followed my spirit and the deal went great and this guy loves his Ferrari and drives it every chance he gets.

Please don't confuse me with a sentimental fool either. I'm not about to make someone’s dream of a gnarly 348 for 20-30k happen. I still have dreams and I can't attain them selling for that kind of dough.:D

    Copterjon,

Your 348 is my childhood dream.
    Please consider 20K.
I deducted $10K for the aftermarket wheels, 5K for the aftermarket brakes,
5K for the aftermarket exhaust, 10K for the major service needed, and 2K for the
PPI I will have to get.

    Thank you for your consideration.
