You need to get your red cloned to your black - Eric355 in France can help and there may be possibilities in the US too (eg gobble)

I just received my FOB back from Gobble and all I can say is that Gobble is my hero. Just got it back today, a very timely return I would like to add. I followed his simple instructions and my remote worked in under 5 minutes. Gobble, I can't thank you enough. I spoke to Gobble on a couple occasions and he is, all the way, a class act.

You absolutely hit the nail on the head. Its a great feeling of security. I have had the car for a while and have always been insecure of the one key/FOB issue. As foolish as it sounds, I can sleep better. Thanks again Gobble.

Remind me to email you the .bin file to keep in a safe place. I have it sitting on an old computer that's not hooked up to the internet.

Marcus- That file is a very valuable thing to have. If you have it, or the person who cloned your fob has it, a new fob can be cloned without having to send in one of your fobs. Or if you want another spare, no sweat, just send another black fob. Or red fob for that matter, they are identical except for plastic color and what is in the EEPROM on original red fobs.

Although be careful because some of the red fobs sold by remote-superstore are Euro frequency.

Gobble, I'm in the same boat as many other members. One black FOB, no alarm PIN code and no desire to pay FofA retail to get a new set. Would you be interested in cloning a FOB for me as well? It looks like Eric355 has been of great help to many US residents but if I can avoid shipping my one and only FOB overseas, I'd feel more comfortable.

    Thanks

    Erik

Maybe Eric can answer this question. Per your istructions I made sure my cloned fob worked and it worked perfectly. Fast forward many months and I just took the cloned fob out of a box and tried to use it. It did not work. So then I pulled out your instruction sheet. Still no work. Then I figured I'd contact you later. Then some 20 minites later I try the fob and it works after several pushes. Then it worked perfectly as if it was the original fob. I then reinitialized my original fob and put the clone back in the box. The question is if I loose my original fob, can I just take the clone out and start using it? If yes how do you get the clone to talk to the ecu? I must have pressed the clone 50 times over 30 minutes before it finally worked. But once it started working it was perfect. So obviously the clone works. I even swicthed out batteries and that made no difference. So perhaps you can explain how a clone works. It seems like lets say the fob has 50 codes it cycles to the ecu. The ecu knows what code is next in the series. Therefore I have to press the fob up to 50 times until the next rotating code in the series broadcast by my clone fob is the one the ecu wants next. Then once it gets the code everything works. Maybe thats why when I go back to my origianl fob it does not work immediately then after a few presses works fine. This is my non-electronic pea-brain thinking. So how do these things really work? By the way the red fob opens the car on the first click. So do clone fobs function differently than the 3 fob set of fobs?

FBB- There is a rolling code in each fob that is a series of four digit alpha-numerics transmitted to the Alarm ECU. This rolling code is designed to make sure someone cannot record your coded signal, play it back, and then unlock the car and disarm the alarm and immobilizer. The rolling code changes every time you press the button. When you hit the button on your cloned remote (or original remote after using the clone), the ECU looks at the rolling code to see if it has been recently used. If it has, it refuses to accept the code. That is the reason you have to press the button again, often several times, to find one of the series of rolling codes the ECU will accept. All the rolling codes in your original fob are contained identically in your clone, so it will always be a case of pressing the button until you find a code the ECU will accept. It does not take 50 times, however, so you were probably not pressing the button correctly (Sounds insulting, does it not? Press that button correctly.), because it should not take anywhere near that number of attempts. I sometimes have to press my original a couple of time if I am too gentle on the button, so that could be the problem.

The red fob functions exactly the same way as the black fob and has a completely different set of rolling codes from the black fob, as would a third original black fob if you had one. So the red fob should work the first time every time, as would your original black fob or the clone if you did not swap between them. There is also a good possibility that the red fob button works better than either black fob button because it has not been used as often.

Let me know if you have any further questions and Eric, I or gobble can answer them

I swear I was about to give up and gave the clone one more press. I orginally though dead battery so I swapped known good battery in and still no work. I did press like 50 times and each time the red light comes on so I guess that means it made contact. I was standing by the passenger SF shield. My close works fine now. I just had trouble waking it up and not sure why. I got too fat of finger to use my droid phone too.

FBB- Try removing the battery and pressing the contacts a little closer together. Then when you replace the battery, spin it a few times to remove any surface corrosion. I have even been known to put a little battery terminal corrosion spray on with a toothpick if the contacts look at all corroded. Most do not.

It is possible pushing the button is providing enough power to illuminate the LED, but not enough to power a strong signal.

DJ- Sure, look on E-Bay. But if you do not understand the fobs and alarm system, the red fob is useless to you. Makes a nice paperweight. No difference between red and black fobs in day to day use except the color of the plastic.

    Hi there,

Aside from Remote Superstore, does anyone know where you can get a black Ferrari key fob?

It seems that Remote Superstore carries only red Ferrari Fobs.

    thanks,
