Anyone now the history of 1982 Lamborghini Countach S - VIN#1121448 Color is yellow, appears to have been a theft recovery as the interior is trashed and radio/ speakers etc. have been cut and removed.. Thanks
That's the one being sold in an estate sale this weekend in PA, it's been parked at least 5 years... I can't make it there unfortunately due to prior commitment, but if anyone here finds out what happens or buys it, I'm in the market for another project. If you pick it up and are looking to flip it let me know and I'll come check it out/make offer. I suspect it will go cheap considering it's an otherwise unremarkable estate sale in rural PA, but who knows, some local might bid it beyond reason not realizing the work it's going to take to bring back. Yes I will be there, the problem is they are starting the bidding at 75K. I am interested in buying it but would rather get it for less. If you want I can give you my number and if it goes out of my range I can bid for you. J
if no one starts at 75k, which probably will happen being in rough shape.........shout 40k. check with Wil Degroot as he is fairly close and may have serviced it in the past.
Exactly my plan! Money is tight up here and unless someone comes from a distance to buy it or I may have a chance!
I'm reaching out to a few friends who might have history... my thought too was with it being complete unknown (at the moment) they would be insane bidding 75 to start.. will let you know as soon as I hear something on the car. Will you be able to get under it at all? I could tell you a few key items to watch out for that would be deal breakers.
I may go out as well to bid on it. I've spoken with the auction house, there's no way the bid is starting at 75K. They expect the car to bring far less, so I think it's worth attending to grab it.
What? Is there something wrong with me saying I'm interested if someone goes buying it to resell? I can't go as we have a charity event this weekend.
Sorry, "Lordy" was simply a reference to the fact that 'here is yet another abused Countach'. Apologies if you took it the wrong way. I would honestly say that MOST Countach I come across need some form of rescuing and have suffered significant neglect, and I just wish these wonderful cars were given more respect. But of course, anyone intent in rescuing this car is doing good work for the community at large.
Sorry I took it wrong Joe, I hadn't posted much for a few months and was just thinking either there was something more wrong with trying to save this, or that you were meaning I was wrong for offering to buy if someone gets it to sell.. I'm not in the market for perfect, but like with the Urracos and other cars, I do love a project to try and save
Joe, I am approved from the wife for 50K.. My plan would be to buy it and store it until I move back to Texas in a few years and then begin restoration.. I am working in PA for three more years. The way I see it, I would rather have 50k sitting in the garage to look at for future fun that sitting in the bank doing nothing..
Assuming the car is as described (eg needs engine work) - what's it worth? Is 40k too high of a bid? As I mentioned, I've spoken with the auctioneer, he doesn't believe it will go for very much.
All auctioneers say that to get us to show up.. I go to real estate auction weekly and they all say property will go WAY below what it goes for... Ill go up to 50K and if someone wants to pay more let me know so I don't waste the trip
Why store it? If it's running, drive it. You let it sit and it's over, you'll spend a lot more. AND, i bet you a hundred bucks it will impossible for you to have sitting there and NOT drive it. .....for 3 years.
You got that right butha! I read somewhere it didn't run or I would try to drive it.. I think the owner had it in storage and passed away. I am really busy at this point, business, three young kids etc... I just would love to have it for the future...
LOL... I will try... Just talked with the auctioneer, he said other people have put up money as an absentee bidder (2 to be exact) and he was shocked at the offers... Ok fess up,,, which one of you big spenders are going to shatter my dream
Any links to the auction? Ok I found it. Looks nicer in the auction pictures, the yellow interior parts are fairly easy to change back. The Challenger looks good also. So this is a S3, correct?
