    Hi everyone,
Looking seriously at purchasing my first Ferrari...Have a good potential buyer comming to look at my 09 Viper ACR this Monday..I have a scud in mind (09) and would really like some feedback from scud owners...The car will NOT be a DD, just a fun w/e driver and weekday blasts..I was also thinking of a 599 which I know is a totally different animal but my thoughts always go back to the scud for its more race/ F-1 image(excluding 599 GTO)....Price is also a factor too.:(......So lets hear it from the scud owners, would you buy one again, biggest likes and dislikes any comments are welcome..TIA,Kevin

I have had mine for a year now - still love it everytime I drive it - wish I could drive it more often.

I will probably keep it until the 458 scud version comes out - I think there are some decent cars out there to be had, so good luck with your search / purchase.

You asked so I will give you the only negative feedback I've heard from an owner: Its too rough a ride and too harsh with the seats being too uncomfortable. Now, he traded in an F430 coupe for one so that may have tainted his perspective. I'm sure he was in the minority. He sold his and bought a 599 which he raved about.

Personally, I would go for the 16M. It does everything the Scud can but you can still pop the top on a nice day.

Yes Scud seats are not the best in comfort I made some cushions with a aerospace material that Pegasus Racing sells, covered with alcantara and yellow stitching and they work for long trips.

Keep me posted as I am in the same thought process. Looks like my 612 is going and debating the Scud or 599. I have a option to get a 458 in November but for some reason it doesn't do it for me like the Scud. Something about all that carbon and exhaust :)
In the 612 and I would think the 599 you don't get that wild feeling I am looking for.

I agree the 16M would be great but the prices haven't moved like the Scuds.

Will do Champaigne 612...I really dont have the funds to move to a 16M and I have always been a coupe man although the 430 looks great to me in spider form....I also would love a GTO but thats not in the cards either...I have a big decision to make as I will own this car for awhile so it will have to be something that makes me very happy every time Iam in it..I went to Steve Harris last week to look at 599s and they are beautiful as are all Ferraris to me but the scud in the showroom and a couple of customers scuds outside really scream Ferrari to me the most. Iam just hopeing the illusion lives up to the reality, lol.I just dont have the funds to swap F-cars every 2 years..Found a white 09 scud that Iam in love with but I have to see how things work out..Thanks for the comments everyone and keep them comming!!! I've owned a 599, 612 OTO and a couple 430's and now I have a Scud.. I will tell you this, it is by far my most favorite car yet! It is very raw, but refined at that same time.. fast as hell and an absolute joy to drive. I've added fabspeed headers and highflow cats, done some tuning and now that car is even more of a beast! Go for it man!

Its a repeat of most of what has already been said but FWIW my Scud experience has been fantastic. The car roughness does not bother me in the least. I have gone on several hundred mile treks with no issues. Might depend on your size as I am 5'10" and 185 lbs so I fit like a glove in the car. The sound is exhilarating and the performance is other worldly. If you had a Viper ACR you are NOT going to be happy with the refinement of a 599. Its a great car but much more like a Daily Driver as it was intended to be. Good Luck Jon in Delaware

I would recommend driving a F430 coupe or spider and then drive a Scud. They are all fantastic and you will get a better idea if you want to pay a premium for bare floors and different wheels. If I had to have one Ferrari it would be 430 Spider. Here's the risk for you: You may want to drive the Ferrari everyday and not just on weekends. Or the weekend turns into a Friday and a Monday and then Tuesday and then Thursday as well. Then, IMO, the F430 or F430 Spider is the better buy.

    I have a CRAZY idea . . . .

I have a 2002 ferrari 360 spider (red/tan) with lots of mods, tubi ngt exhaust, hyper flow cats, suspension, 19 and 20 wheels, blah blah blah . . . . latest mod is the Stradale TCU (trans contol unit). WOW what a difference, wakes up the car and feels like a totally different car.

Anyway, a buddy was at the dealship last week and he just got rid of his ferrari 550 and is not sure what to get. He called me and stated that the best value is the 360 and you can own one for less than $100k. Depending on what year etc maybe even $70 to 80k. OR look into a Ferrari Stradale (amazing car) and now they are in the $135k range. NOW that is a great value for what you get.

A had the opportunity to drive a scud on the track for 20 minutes or so and all I can say is WOW, WOW . . . .did I say W O W.

But how often are you going to track your car ??? If your answer is, not much, then you have a ton of options.

I thought about getting into a F430 a month or so ago and the difference out the door IMHO does not warrant $70k. I paid $169k in 2006 and I thought I was getting a good deal and today you can get one, well . . . you all know the nums

BUT the 360 is a great car on and off the track.

There are rumors that the F430's and Scuds will fall in value very quickly once the 458's really hit the street. Again this is all rumors.

    One last thought.
I went to a car show a couple of months ago and my car was parked next to my buddies red / black 16m. I love the car, very well spec'd. Most of the people would come over and ask me questions about my car and take photos of it etc . . . . and meanwhile my buddy was, hey I paid $315k and your car is $80k . . . . hey what about me !!! I kid; but I did find it interesting that to most . . . . . . a Ferrari is a Ferrai which is a Ferrari.

They are all amazing cars and in the world of Ferrari, it does not matter which model you have. Everyone is treated with respect and the common thread is equal to passion

My favorite Quote is from my wife when I was looking for a car. I loved the red, but everyone has a red ferrari. Wife states, "yes But it is the only Red ferrai in your garage" hmmmmmmm - red it is . . . .

Owning a ferrari is completely different than any other car regarding the attention it will get. It becomes a destination car and a planned out day. I purchased my car in 06 with 4400 miles and it now has 24,000 miles so I get a chance to really enjoy her.

Again just something to think about and my last weekender was a totally modded porsche (yellow). The attention was not even close. I could take the porsche anywhere.

Good luck; Whichever car you end up getting you will can't go wrong. Just think on what you are getting the car for, what purpose and that will help you decide.

Having gone from a 430 to a scud recently, I would also recommend you try both first. Imo, the scud with its much quicker shifting is the way to go but the ride is definitely not for everyone. In a nutshell, they are both superb so do what I did and buy a 430 now, drive it for a while then get a scud!

    Best, Paul

i sold the 599 for the scud, regret it sometimes, but they are totally different cars.
scud is nice but i would get the 99 now, because it wont be as old news when the 458 come swarming!

Just picked my 2009 Scud up two days ago. After owning many cars including two F430s and a recent Corvette ZR1 all I can say is WOW!!!
