Thank you very much, Boudewijn. Definitely the second and third photos are #053. This 'notchback' car was shown at the 1948 Geneva show, but part way through the show was replaced on the stand by one of the more definitive 'fastback' versions. #053 then went to Argentina for Evita Peron ! I'm still uncertain about #051 and #054, but your first photo is surely one of them.

I hope like Walter that Mr. Bellabarba will join us to resolve this confusion. We each seem to have a few pieces of the puzzle, and I quite enjoy putting them together.

    Best,
    Don

The first car is #065. Although it at first appears black in the photos under fluorescent lighting, it is a beautiful deep green, its original color. Sold at Ruoteretrò in Florence last December to a gentleman in the textile business from Prato. Best wishes to him and his son with their new purchase.

The second car is #084. It was bright red when sold at Bonhams and Brooks Geneva in 2001, but has since been repainted its original grigio (or something close). Bravo. While in the US decades ago it was fitted with the non-original 2 liter monoalbero engine #2030, with triple Weber 36DO4s. Hope the owner can eventually locate some trafficators.

Thank you for the big photos, I was unable to download them from the MM site.

With reference to posts 201 and 203, is this green car with #065 the alleged #089?

No, these are two different cars. Notice in the photos at posts 199, 203 and 212 that the trafficators have been removed from #089 and replaced with front signal lights below the headlamps. The interiors are also noticeably different; #065 is more authentic.

The comments in posts 201 and 211 about #089 are not correct. Dating back to Hofer in 1981, it was thought that #089 was one of five factory triple carb cars for competition. I believe that I corrected this misimpression and explained why it occurred in post 424. I am confident that Walter posted the correct history in post 209.

Both #065 and #089 have single-carb engines. The original color of #065 was green, but #089 was amaranth.

Can anyone possibly confirm (or even make an educated guess) which paint supplier was used by Pinin Farina for the A6 1500 berlinettas ? Was it PPG ?

    Thanks,
    Don

    Don,
yep they used PPG. I had an inquiry last week and the PPG-code confirmed by the Factory archive. They also used that paint supplier in the mid-50ies!

    Ciao!

    Hi Walter,

Thank you indeed for confirming this. I have been told that Batista Farina visited Detroit during the '20s and returned with PPG paint and a spray gun, and that he was loyal to them thereafter. I understand also that local Italian suppliers were technologically behind at that time, and for example were unable to deliver metallics until the '50s. I just wasn't sure about the use on Maseratis.

I'm surprised that you are able to find paint codes in the factory archive. With A6 1500s, there is no mention of color in the delivery documents I've seen, and in the factory ledgers only rather vague notations (e.g. "grigio", "verde", "amaranto"). There aren't any build sheets for these cars, are there ?

By the way, are you coming to Pocono this year ?

    Best regards,
    Don

    Don,
I had a request reg. the paint code of an A6G Zagato. Cozza gave me the PPG-"code". Not sure if this code came also with the 1500...

    Ciao!

Six or seven years later, they must have started keeping normal records by then.

Just trying to make some decisions here.

    Thanks Walter,

Anyone have any more info on 2125? We are restoring the car and it is lacking a few things like the heaters typically found on the A6Gs and we are curious if it never came with them etc. Any help or pictures of other original Allemanos would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The Maserati build sheet for your car will probably tell you if the car had a heater ... and maybe which maker it was. Then again, maybe not? There was a build sheet posted earlier in this thread that listed a "Smiths" heater if I recall correctly. I think it was related to 2115? Don't know quite why I remember this and probably should check before pretending to be so specific. You can search for it yourself as I don't have the time for it now. If you do not have the build sheet, I can put you in touch with someone who can get it for you. If you write to Maserati you can probably get it yourself. Good luck!

What is the Allemano body number of your car? It should be a three-digit number marked on several body/trim parts in hidden places. Thanks in advance.

Good memory, John. I posted the build sheet and Bolla di Spedizione for 2115 copied from Anamera at post #352 above. A6G owners are lucky, the documentation for A6 1500s is much more sketchy.

    Best regards,
    Don

This interesting photo of the Zagato bodied A6G was sent to me by a good friend.
Corrado Bellabarbas tried to research the plate-no but unfortunately this number was given to a FIAT. So we can assume, that the plate was -typicall Italian!- "borrowed" for #052.

The pic shows that the version of the front section was originally not as we know it today.

Has someone more pics from this version?

    Walter,

Are you saying that your first photos is A6 1500 #052 ? The hood is about a meter too short. I'd say that it's a Fiat 1100 B Panoramica: http://www.zagato-cars.com/contents/en-us/d548.html

Don, yes, I agree with you now!
It makes sense as the registration plate was issued to a FIAT.

...but look to the Maserati-badge on the radiator cowl of this car!!!

Does anyone know the top bid amount on 1956 Maserati A6G 2000 Zagato Competition Berlinetta 2137 that was offered at Coy's 2010 Legende et Passion auction?
