Its an '84 Euro coupe. Some service history but not all. Timing belt done about 4 years ago with about 3K miles on it. A local Ferrari club member checked the car out and thought it was pretty nice. Clean, fired right up, everything worked. I talked to the owner, seems like an OK guy but is a multi-car owner and has only had this car for a short time and I wouldnt call him an F-car enthusiast, more of a general sports car enthusiast.

The two issues that bug me the most are:

    - The Recaro seats. The originals are gone. Im sure they are comfy and arguably "better" than stock but the Recaros seem weird in this car.

    - Its got an aftermarket speaker set and(what looks to be a subwoofer) mounted between the rear seats as you see in the pic. Both the owner and the F-club member said the aftermarket stereo stuff was installed properly and didnt look bad. The center section was NOT cut to install that speaker but was rather removed or something and the speaker box put there.

I like the fact that its a Euro car. I like the color combo. I like the positive feedback from the local ferrari club member. The car can be bought VERY reasonably.

Do the seats and stereo kill it? Is this just a poor choice due to the lack of complete history? Curious as to some other opinions. Its a lower cost car.

    Tenks.

If you are serious about buying and maintaining a Mondial I just saw a great convertible in grey at my shop today. Very low miles and belt service just done. It needs some TLC but seems to be a very solid car. If you are interested I cna put you in touch with the mechanic at APex Vintage who is taking care of the car. (I have no affiliation to it.) Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah... its a little dodgy. If it had the right seats and regular stereo Id be much more interested.

There was no original stereo. They were all dealer installed. I wouldn't worry about that, other than the cut door panels which is a shame. It is very common, however. The subwoofer can be pretty easily removed, although I'm sure that the "door" is missing and would have to be fabricated.

I've seen those Recaro seats in other Ferraris of the time period. One advertisement claimed that they were the only factory option available. I'm sure that someone would swap seats with you (I would, but my originals are tan and need some refurbishment).

Unless you are wanting a show-car, and if the car is otherwise in good condition, it comes down to price. $22k is too high considering that there are a couple of excellent cars currently for sale for under (and just over) that amount. At $16k it would be another story. (I'm not saying that the car is only worth $16k -- I'm just using that as an example.)

    Good luck with your search!
