Correct, I believe that's what they were trying to accomplish. Unfortunately it threatens to interfere with belt/pulley spacing and if possible I'd like to return it to stock, unless anyone thinks it will be really beneficial. I'm open to suggestions

 

What should be there besides the threaded flange? I can't find any 'correct' reference.

Everything was changed over to AN style braided lines in the 80's, so its a hodgepodge of fittings. If you look to the right in the pic (center of the front of the block) there's a brass bung that was added, probably for oil drainback from the turbos?

 

We're a private collection in Cincinnati but the engine is being built at NJB in Columbus.

 

ilconservatore I would just get another oil pump assembly as everything has been rework and has no benefit for a stock engine. The factory pump delivers plenty of oil volume and pressure for stock applications as it is driven directly by the crankshaft at a 1:1 ratio. I believe the oil to the camshaft areas to be more of an engine left sitting and timing chains being way over tightened problem rather than starvation and or lack of volume issue.

Attached is a diagram of the oil pump assembly from the 5 liter engine I believe it to be the same as the 4 liter. You will see the flanged tube and hose assembly that should be in the place of the threaded fitting on yours. I would contact people like 2NA (Tim), Chad, Evans, GT Parts, or Kurt (White racing products in Fla) and try to find a good used pump.

I know Kurt in Florida had a bunch of oil pump parts that were brand new. If you need any help with contacts and phone numbers PM me and I will dig them up. Best of luck, Vic

We had a good look at the car tonight. The fans seem to be coming on early but then cutting in and out a lot which may be putting excessive load on the wiring. the fuse is running hot and I think on a very long run as I had on wed, about 400 miles the fans were on most of time which i think caused fuse to melt and go.
going to change the temp sender for the fans first. Are these generic parts?
Anyone had the same thing?

That's correct like this, the load on the wiring is only when they run, you have to renew the connectors to avoid additional resistance.

 

Thanks Vic, I've hit up several of those but a couple are new, will try them next. I see the pipe you're talking about, looks like it was a complete hose assembly up to the filter

 

I think the problem is that the temp sensor on the radiator is over sensitive or not working correctly. Anyone had that problem?

Whatever happens there Raymond is right, there is too much load on the wiring and fuse

anyone know the spec for the temp sensor

Sounds to me like the fan thermostat is working just fine, the fans are supposed to cycle on and off as the temperature rises and falls. You might try an IR gun on the radiators when running to identify the setpoint when the fans come on.

Electrical overload is unrelated. If the motors and wiring are healthy the fans should be able to run continuously without blowing fuses.

Hi guys
havent done this yet. Will do ASAP. Was hoping to take the car down to the UK Lambo club dinner at the Silverstone classic this weekend but taking the Espada down instead as just had the diff rebuilt. Enjoying the new found quietness as had wear on the crown wheel and pinion due to oil loss in the past.
Need to sort out all the electrical problems properly a a bit worried about going another long run and having the car possibly overheat
Appreciate all the advice. Quality as usual on here!

Joe been to Brooklands a few times, but dont recall that happening when i was there. that is on what they call 'the hill' and is a time trial section which some take seriously and others well ..........
