Is the Enzo being offered the infamous "Eddie Griffen" Enzo?

The listing does mention "some paintwork was performed on the right front fender" and the mileage is similar...

No, this is a car from the FXX program with the EVO package (more power, faster shifts, etc.) which was offered by the factory.

It was in the care of Risi Competizione, the extremely successful team running 430 GT2 (class victory at Le Mans)

I should have been more clear.

In addition to the FXX being offered, there is also a 'regular' Enzo up for auction, and that was the subject of my question. Sorry to hijack your FXX thread :)

"1 of 30" LOL. There are at least 34. RMs information always seems to be a little off. I don't think this car will see 2.4MM US in the current climate, in any case.

No - the right front fender still looked pretty good when Griffin got done with it. The nose and the left side of the car took most of the damage in that accident.

I did not think that the cars could be sold privately, unless this means the FXX "test" program has run its course?

I'm eager to get up there for the Pebble Beach Concours so I can see the new McLaren but I'm moving less than two weeks later so timing for me is pretty bad this year unfortunately. Might still make it, but I'm not positive yet. I take it you are coming to town?

Good Question...has the FXX programme run its course?

The FXX "Facebook" page does not list any new events.

Yes, flights and accomodation booked but I haven't notified any of my work colleagues - just hoping that I can do all of my work over there and nobody notices. I made it last year for the Porsches and now I'm hooked.

    initialy supposed to be 29 samples, so 34 on top of 29 = 1.1724 x 499 enzo or 599 expected 599 gto = 585 enzos and 702 x 599 gto samples!

mathematic!! and certainly not so fare from the reality, not too bad for limited editions.

Later in the text it clarifies that it was one of the cars delivered to the "30 original owners", allowing therefore that there were subsequent cars for subsequent owners. I can tell you there is interest in this car and I would not fall out of my chair if it hit its estimate.

".....The original 30 owners were all hand-picked by Ferrari and were each dedicated Ferrari clients and enthusiasts. Thus, changes in ownership are rare, much less at auction"

When Don W. sold his first FXX, the second hand buyer, was not allowed to use the car in any FXX or "Ferrari" event. Being that this is not the "RM at Maranello" auction this car will likely not be allowed in to the Corsa Clienti events. However if there is some package deal with Ferrari that goes with this car, the car may be admitted. When a friend of mine attempted to purchase an FXX second hand he was told the car could not be admitted without writing a rather LARGE check to Ferrari for "series fees". As with all things Ferrari the only thing that is consistent is the inconsistency.

They use the phrases "One of only 30 ever built" and "Just 30 were built" more than once. Either way it will be interesting to see if it meets the estimate and if Ferrari "allows" this car back into in the series. I think the latter will require yet another check.

There is no FXX championship, as there is no FXX racing series. It is not a challenge car. The car was not designed as a race car but rather as a rolling test bed (super fun toy) for future Ferrari road car development. No FXXs have ever been officially raced.

Yes I think Ferrari take the "hand-picked" thing literally... but there are ways to become hand-picked :)

I understand, but don't the 'private' owners race against eachother during each weekend event?

According to the FXX page, they have an event every month, does it include practice, qualifying and race ?

Or do the FXX's only participate in time trials and "hot laps" only ?

There wasn't any racing. The one with the fastest lap basically got bragging rights...

Also, I remember Rik saying that the laptimes are roughly the same as an FIA GT spec Aston Martin DBRS9...despite having some 260 bhp more! This was due to different slicks used (less grip) and of course less downforce...

It's more do to weight and suspension than anything else. A DBRS9 weighs a good deal less than an FXX, which is not a light car at 2,500 lbs+. Having ridden in an FXX I can tell you the suspension is not as hard your average race car, by race car standards its relatively soft. This is of course adjustable, but it's not designed to ride like a race car, because it's not a race car, its testbed for new ideas for the new super car. I'm sure Rik can comment much more specifically than I can, as he has driven both cars.

Again any "racing" is not official. Just as there is no "racing" between the Corsa F1 guys.
