Ferrari appears to have violated the team oder rule today, would you

  1. Penalize Ferrari for "team orders"

  2. No penalty

You just want a pound of flesh. What you won't admit is that everyone does it because the rule makes no sense to the spirit of the sport.

LOL!!! Anyway, I agree. What all the teams should do is to create a secret pact on how to disguise this sort of thing. Then, everyone would be happy because THE RULE MAKES NO SENSE and does nothing to help the sport. In fact, it makes the sport a joke at times -- like today.

Yes. It will be even 'better' when the drivers are also replaced by computer models
so the teams can program the results as desired without the legal and moral dilemmas.

There are no end of rules in F1 I hate.

I think the current tire rules are crap.
    I want refueling brought back.
    I want unlimited testing.
I want engine changes as needed.

I think the team order rule is silly too.

But I see no difference between ferrari breaking that rule, than if they had been testing last week to try out new bits to make the car fast this weekend.

I feel bad for Massa, he looked crushed during the post-race interview. It was clear that Alonso was faster and would have likely gotten the position eventually. In the end it is a stupid rule. If you don't want team orders then they should only allow one driver per constructor.

Totally agree. The FIA has way overregulated this sport. What it needs is a new level of openess, transparency, and honesty.

Anyone else think that F1 is taking itself far too seriously?
It was a lot more fun when the rogues and scoundrels who ran the show didn't even pretend to be respectable;)

I think that this combination of penalties (on top of the $100,000, which for Ferrari is chicken feed) would be appropriate.

Why? Did Alonso demand that Massa move over? Even if it did (which he didn't) you mean the team management cannot overrule what one of it's drivers wants? Is that how bad the state is in Ferrari that it must obey any whim of the driver?

The TEAM asked Massa to move. No one put a gun to their heads and forced this decision. They could have easily have told Alonso to STFU. They didn't because it was in the TEAM'S best interest for Alonso to win.

So, why should Alonso be penalized in the next race? Seems to me like your putting the blame on the wrong guy.

And, why should Massa be penalized? For obeying what the team told him to do? Again, fine the team, take away points from the manufacturers championship or whatever (which I would have been in favor of) -- but don't hurt the drivers for a management decision.

    DQ Ferrari. The END.

IF it is a stupid rule overturn it AFTER Ferrari is spanked and Vittle is RIGHTFULLY given the Championship he deserves under the THEN current rules.

Then EVERYBODY is happy and Lady Justice is served.

Sorry Ferrari. YOU screwed the ugly pooch AND you knew it by trying (VERY POORLY) to hide it.

Obviously they do not KNOW the 1st rule of Combat:

"If you AIN'T Cheatin' YOU ain't tryin'.

IF YOU GET CAUGHT, YOU weren't tryin' HARD ENOUGH."

What a bunch of clowns. :(

And we buy their cars ....... are we NUTS?

    FACTS:

When Massa got onto the hard tires, he struggled for just over a lap making a couple of mistakes. Alonso didn't get passed.

After Massa got familiar with the tires, he actually pulled away from Alonso, a lead to 4 seconds.

Then he had a LOT of traffic, most of it in the NARROW (= difficult to pass) stadium section. Alonso constantly lucked and could overtake on the straights mostly, in other words, because Massa was being held up, Alonso could get closer.

During this time, Rob Smedley and his Ferrari superiors where constantly arguing. Ferrari wanted Massa to concede position. RS and FM obviously didn't want to do this. More traffic came about and the gap was between 0.9 and 3.1 seconds.

At lap 52 (I believe) Massa got told he had to concede position... He did what he was told. IMO this could be much like Austria 2002 when Ferrari threatened Barrichello saying 'Rubens, remember you have a contract...' (implying that they would terminate his contract). Incidentally, also MUCH to early in the season to start giving team orders.

In the remaining 15 laps, the 'much faster' Alonso only got 4.1 seconds over Massa, who at this time wasn't allowed to race for p1 anymore. PATHETIC performance by Ferrari.

Anyone who saw the replay + graphic saw Massa exiting the hairpin, then giving very little throttle and letting Alonso by (showing that it was VERY deliberate). Obviously Ferrari PR forced Smedley to say this.

Had this been 2/3 races before the season final, NO ONE would even give this a second glance, it would have been common sense. But the fact is, that there where still 9 races to finish at the time, a whole lot of points to grab. There weren't many points between Massa and Alonso to begin with (remember, new point system).

Today's race was an utter farce.

Someone else wrote it BRILLIANTLY in another thread:

''Would alonso think today's race was manipulated as well?'' I wish someone would ask him soon...and I wonder what his reaction would be. If he says yes, great. But knowing how he's behaved for his whole F1 life, he would obviously say 'no'.

    ----

Personally, I wish Massa had punched Domenicalli straight into his face, knocking him of his seat, grabbed his stuff and told SD that Badoer can fill Massa in for the remainder of the season. This way he would have been the most awesome character in F1 since it began, he would have left with the most self respect a person could possibly have. And I'm quite sure he could get another job driving for Renault for 2011, and if he wanted to, team up with Mclaren/mercedes/Red Bull or so for 2012. He's got enough money to last a lifetime (he doesn't strike me as a big spender).

    Agree all around.
I think its just a question of time before someone, be it a driver or team principle comes out and tells us all what we have been suspecting for a few years now, that this is no longer legitimate racing but race fixing so as to make more money right untill the end of the season. Alonso came close to saying just that a couple of weeks ago and todays results may have in part just to appease him. Strange how the last few seasons and this one too will come down to the end. Before MS retired, how many seasons went right down to the wire? Not many right? Yes many races were boring but they were mostly legit and in the end the best car/driver combination won the championship. Believe me when I say that in todays race not only the first 2 positions were dickered with but Red Bull and McLaren were told to lay back. This is all to get the tifosi back into good spirits and believing that they are back in the thick of it. What a crock!

That would have been epic. Unfortunately Massa's not like that and coupled with Alonso,
it's not working out well for him - although even FA looked somewhat uncomfortable with today's fiasco.

Felipe needs more do or die / all or nothing

    >>The Tifosi don't care who wins when the Scuderia pulls a 1-2 finish.

    >Amen to that bro.

AMEN is right. Apropos (red) blinkers and all that.
And who was talking about lack of integrity re: MS etc a few weeks ago?

    Some 'bros' are posers.
