Interesting tease about Barnhart reviewing the results...that's one way to drive traffic to IRL's site.

This whole series is a joke. Spec cars are bad, spec engines are worse, now we see the marshals have no business within 50 miles of a race track unless they pay for admission.

If Penske had a hair on his ass he would pull the team and move the resources to a real racing series.

He shouldn't have grabbed the security guy although I'm 99% certain he wasn't threatening him. BAD CALL by Brian B. , makes a farce of IRL (more than Milka losing control of her car in the first turn).

Nice team mate he has in Power, "Well, he was blocking me...".

Suhweet. Could have just said it was racing. Not a fan.

They do nothing about Milka all season and then today make a call about nothing but racing for the lead with 2 laps to go. Indy Racing is really a joke. That's the last race I watch.

Can't stand HC, but he did get screwed here. And yes, IRL is a sad, unfunny joke.

Reminded me of The Green Mile with Helio as Tom Hanks and the head of security as Michael Clarke Duncan...quite a difference in size.

It sounds like they applied a "stay on the inside wall" rule that was written by someone who has never actually raced.

Also known as the "keeping Penske from getting too far out front" rule.

What a lousy weekend for racing.

This is what will enivitably happen when the 900lb
gorilla on the block (NASCAR) shamelessly gets away
with manipulated, farce races and competing spec series
are vying for a piece if the pie.

    The cancer grows.

You are so right - Nascar, what a joke, Ernhart just happens to win when he is running his dad's number - reminds me of pro wrestling

minor thread hijack, but part of Indycar's problem for the last, oh, quarter century has been they don't have an identity. For years (CART days) they tried to be F1, now they are trying to be NASCAR. neither really works; F1 is open wheel but doesn't run on ovals, NASCAR runs on ovals but doesn't have open wheels.

IRL needs to be its own series, from a competition rules standpoint (as well as marketing, etc etc)

Just an absurd decision. Anyone who has watched racing has seen that exact scenario play out thousands of times and now they black flag Helio and take away a win? What is the point in that, so they can get added on as a bullet point under "Ganassi wins at the Brickyard"?

I'm very seriously considering this being the last Indy race I watch until Barnhardt is gone. I'm so sick of this league. The race itself was awful to watch, boring for the first part, then a crash fest by sub-par drivers, then a victory taken away by a league official who can't even bring himself to talk on tv for literally 1 minute.

    Well put Guy.

After F-1 in the morning and MotoGP in the afternooon
it was enough already by the time Edmonton came on
so only caught the first quarter of the race thinking
    "nothing to see here".

After seeing replays of the so-called blocking incident
though it definately appears to be heavy handed reading
    of the rules.

If Helio is not able to use a defensive line into a turn while
leading, how do we call it racing?

Knowing Helio since his rookie year in CART in 1998,
what you see is what you get but his response was
over the top and certainly Penske must have had a
    "Now Helio..." conversation by now.

I spent the day watching Lime Rock, then Brickyard, finally IRL.

Best race of the day was Lime Rock. Interesting that both Lime Rock and IRL had drive-through penalities on the leaders for blocking.

    IMHO, Helio got screwed.

For Milka to be put on probation, then take herself out in the second turn, she needs to go and go now.

I saw it twice on Sports Center late last night. It looked to me like Helio was driving EXACTLY on the tire marks of the normal racing line in that corner and did nothing that I would consider to be blocking. Bad deal. Anyway, even if it WAS blocking, don't the rules say that you are allowed one move to defend your position, but you're not allowed to weave your car?

Ouch; the replies seems to indicate at least a few of us care. Why the need for bold?
