No worries. Your BIL's hearttransplant is much more important than Losee's Enzo's "engine transplant". Hope things went well.
He is doing extremely well. Thanks. Possibly going home tomorrow or in the next few days. I may go back out next month for the Ferrari Challenge @ Miller Motorsports Park. Still won't be able to go by and see the Enzo.
I was at Steve Harris Imports yesterday to pick up one of my cars after a service, and I ran into Richard in the showroom. He chatted for a bit and reminisced about Challenge Rallies gone by, and then he invited me down into the service bay with him for a closer look at the rebuild of his Enzo. The roll cage is really neat (he said "I don't want to count on getting lucky again"), and those turbos look MEAN. I speculated that he'd be flirting with the 1,000+ HP mark, depending on how much boost he decides to run, but his only reply was "We'll see." We picked through the "mound" of salvaged parts that sits on the floor for a bit, and then looked through some of the way broken pieces that won't be re-used. The old transmission casing is toast. Some serious physics were at play to tear it up like that! It still looks like there's a good amount of time left on this project, but I'm sure the final product will be mind numbing. I also got to check out the "Fantastic Four" that are on display in the showroom, then drive back to Provo with the sun shining, top removed, and my 12-year old daughter in my passenger seat... urging me to "drive faster, Daddy!" A good day!
Doesn't sound like it will be ready in time for the challenge race. I'm working down in Utah county for the next few weeks so I won't be near the dealership any time soon. That was nice of Richard to take you down to see the progress. I saw his son at dinner last night, didn't think to ask him about the car though.
Did he decide to use the enzo tranny or did he upgrade to the FXX one? Sounds like the FXX version saves 40% which should be around 20ms per shift.
Saw it last week.. Can't speak for sure on which trans, but I believe it is basically a stock trans with a super tall final drive. Turbo plumbing looks to be all done. Electronics and wiring is going in. Wheels for the Salt Flats have been made and rumor is that there is a push to have her running at the Bonnevile Speed Week...
I'm assuming the car is still at Steve Harris, in which case the line up is a 288GTO, F40, F50, and then an Enzo. Was Richard at ALMS? I saw a guy that I swear was him measuring (!) that amazing transporter that Risi brought (the one marked Boardwalk Ferrari). If that was him I'm interested in what he was doing and what he has up his sleeve!
then you mean "THE" four super Ferraris. That sounds like a Kodak moment. Lets see some pictures even if the MM is under a cover.
Unfortunately, the only way you can purchase FXX parts, is to provide the serial number of the FXX for verification. If you don't own one, you don't get parts....
engine fire up.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqsDweYhK5o&feature=player_embedded longer clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfcmh7XMrcI&feature=player_embedded
In the first short clip, we were actually just trying to spin up the motor and check oil pressure before the initial attempt to start. It spun about three times and fired! That is why the mad scramble to shut it down. Five days short of the four year anniversary of the accident, the Enzo really wanted to run!! The second clip was 24 hours later after considerable tuning and mechanical adjustments, with the intercoolers and charge tubes installed and running through the turbos. Unfortunatly, I cannot go into specific details of the build up at this time, that day is coming soon, but wanted to comment on the YouTube links, and look forward to sharing more details in the near future.
Whoever hosted the clips on YouTube offered some details: Great to see this car resurrected and I wish the owner all the best as he tests her limits again. >8^) ER
Sweet. Been waiting for some real visuals of the car for months now...video w/sound is even better. Thanks to all who posted. Am wondering if he will be running some type of roof scoop, what with the air intakes being on top of the engine, at the back/top of the engine bay...
NO! you got it all wrong... its the P4/5 heard it from a reliable source... The new movie is going to introduce the new Decepticon named "Glickencon" allegedly he wins over the character played by Megan Fox in the first 5 minutes of the movie never to be seen again
