Thanks to FBB also for coming by today and helping me clean up the aftermath, including the refuse oil. There was about 11 gallons of the stuff and I think he said something about now being able to have that fish fry he'd always wanted. :)

    Notes:
Yes Rick Sandy Eggo messed up his rear brake line but he took on the job regardless and dealt with the result. Also, the Stooges really stepped it up to at least find a fix that would get him home to San Diego (about 125 miles) although I sweated it all night since the repair leaked.

The Mrs. was an incredibly good sport about this whole affair but was in a better mood once the waste was dealt with and the driveway cleaned by FBB and me. ;)

Honestly, there wasn't that much of a mess all things considered. Who else has had 4 oil changes and 2 gear oil changes done in their driveway?!

For Stooges, they don't really eat that much so now I have a fridge full of grub I need to eat. I shoulda made carry out. ;)

The secret to making the tin foil hats work better is.......... to all be huddled around the engine bay scratchin yu're asses. It syncs up the brain waves better, especially after you reset the ecu's.

You know, broken brake line and all, it was still a great day. Honestly, one of the highlights was when Ernie, FBB, plugzit and Ed all lept into action to help me find a solution to the brake line problem. I got a free tour of the local auto-parts stores and an education from Ernie and FBB...that is, when those 2 weren't arguing like an old married couple. Seriously, watching the wheels turn with those two ... dreaming up solutions and taking shots at each other was pure entertainment. Was also reassuring to have plugzit on the other end of Ernie's speedial to keep us on track. :D

Sitting back now it really was sorta incredible how those guys all just stepped up big time - with loads of enthusiasm and good humor. We were so close to having MacGyver'ed our own part...it hurt when it leaked...BUT it got me home safe and sound. That's "Stooging It" and why somehow the tinfoil hat with horns ended up in my front seat (was FBB trying to tell me something?).

    Rick,

The cool thing is you learned how sometimes you gotta use a nail when you don't have a cotter pin. You learned a few tricks and the broken part is only 25 bucks from Ricambi. If you wear my foil hat when you take off the right rear line it will go easier...

It was pretty darn cool watching these guys in action. Who would think you could make brake lines out of some raw materials, a torch, a nail, some big hammers, Vince's "anvil", a few tinfoil hats and some BBQ chicken. Pure genius!

Vince, you have unleashed the ultimate Stooge event - next year you might have to make it a two day event and set up a room block at a local hotel. You thought you had a lot of Ferraris in your driveway this time? :D :D :D

    Hey Vince.....detail day?

I would host it but my Condo association would ban me from living there...although I can host having some beers out on the balcony enjoying the Ocean view!

... When you folks do a detail-day, let me supply a professional-grade buffer and pads. I've got a trick up my sleeve in the arena of Ferrari detailing. :)

Send the buffer to Vince. We can turn wrenchs but Vince can buff! The man is amazing. My car needs it. Vince and co are embarassed by me because I got the dirtiest driver around and Ernie keeps telling me to not turn the 550 into a racecar. Plugzit and DaveHelms I think have a private bet as to when my 550 becomes a racecar.

I will definitely let you know when the detail day is planned. I might need some time to get over this past event. Maybe after I finish the annual maintenance on my car... ;)

Of course, my car only needs the detail part of this. Paint's pretty good. Now FBB is a serious embarassment to the Stooges and Ernie?! Well, I can't even go there. I even got Plugzit to part with some real dough for Zymol - and he wanted to eat it, or maybe turn it into a sex toy with the new wife, I'm not sure and don't wanna know. X)

We did do Jeffdark's 348 Spider trunk grill in about 20 minutes. That came off pretty good. He was trying to figure out how to remove it so he could get it painted, silly man. :D

Tried to today but they're out of stock and the factory is shut down for summer holidays.

Vince sent me a couple of other spots to check but worse case I have all the parts I really need - just need some help making a proper compression fitting / double flare end.

BTW, I did buy the proper 11 mm 'line wrench' and a self-igniting propane torch for the rest of the job. muwhahhaa.

Rick - Hang tight brother... are you looking for the actual brake lines themselves? Mike didn't mention your call, but I'm pretty sure we've got 355 lines (Girodisc stainless) in stock. I'll check when I get there in about an hour.
