being driven in the wild street http://a.imageshack.us/img37/9713/hatcha.jpg Would please someone tell me waht was the original sticker price on these cars brand new? compared to a Miura which one was more expensive off the showroom ? does anyone know their prices any given year ?
I don't know the details but I've always heard that the Espada was more expensive which makes sense. There's a lot more "stuff". Bob S.
We haven't heard from your in a while so the car must be getting thoroughly enjoyed (I hope) by now???? Bob S.
After 17 years of ownership I finally got my old Espada to the UK silverstone meeting last weekend! Every other year it has been in need of some repair or other or I was not available! Drove her there and back being about 750 mile round trip at average of 16mpg Imperial 13 US I had the crown wheel and pinion replaced last week due to wear caused by low oil in the diff at some point so car seemd very quiet! The old style oil seals for the diff should be avoided completely and new style oil seals used! Couldnt believe how primative the factory ones were, no wonder they leak! Took the old car around the circuit on the parade laps and due to careful holding back had a few fast blasts chasing diablos and murcis. It is a good circuit for the car, being fast open and quite flat allowing nice lines into corners and using the flat handling of the car. I had her around the old Nurburgring years ago and wasnt as happy as needed a lot more reliance on the brakes and gears. Mine is an Auto so just held her in 2nd and up to top for 100mph + parts I still have a few things to sort on her and want to take her to Cannes in the south of France for a long planned re-run of an epic drive my now brother in law and I did back in 1978 from glasgow. this time we wont be doing it in 25 hours each way!!! Paul
Okay, I know that this is entirely wrong but I kind of like the look of this car with its hood with no vents and nose down stance - I'm liking them more and more..
from what I remember roughly $20,500 for a Miura S vs $21,000 for an Espada. Think I read that on the 400gt.com estes files I was surprised as well...Espadas are more complicated and that justifies the price, but in my ignorance I never thought of them as 'equals' to the miura in that sense. Does that make sense without seeming offensive to the car?
Yes the car is working perfectly for the moment Bob but I hav not turned a key in 11 days as the car is there and I am here. Gary
To me all those design elements help enormously to break-up what otherwise appears to be a blob of a car body without them. Too much empty space and this isn't a strinkingly, naturally beautifully shaped car like the Miura is. It needs some gimmicks. But I suppose you could shave the door handles as well to complete the look. Bob S.
Not sure I posted this yet. Was told for about 400-500 US they can replicate the wheel. http://www.moto-lita.co.uk/default.aspx Also, I guess I'll be back and forth with Jarama questions. Where can I get the 12 airbox gaskets? Between the box and carbs.
Hi I think the airbox gaskets are fairly easy to get, either through GT Car parts in arizona or if a problem through the dealer network and factory Eurpospares in the UK stock them as well Paul
I have to post in both Espada and Jarama, not as many folks read Jarama section. I spoke to the mechanic who was working on the car (Jarama) when I bought it midway through his work. Told me there was no clutch pedal and that the slave was leaking. I need a clutch slave or, preferably, a rebuild kit. Any suggestions? Can anyone confirm they are the same on both cars?
This topic as well as discussions about the master cylinders both the brake and clutch have come up several times on VLG. There are many possibilities. I suggest some search research over there of the messages as well a look at the databases (xrefs ,suggested vendors etc.) and there there is the files section as well as a links section. Many people have issues of late with White Post Restorations which is a well known outfit. I have used them before with good results but that was a long time ago. There are plenty of others like them Peter. Bob S.
Thanks. Need to take care of brakes first. I may need to replace a rear brake caliper. What else do they fit on? Same as......
My slave cylinder was "rebuilt" many years ago with a rebuilt kit and recently started leaking... I just completely rebuilt all my 3 cylinders with new sleeves, excellent work done by Ron Karp in Ca. My master cylinder has no "4121410" stamed on it, my cluth cylinder has "Bonaldi 3/4" and my slave cylinder "313330". I know that some Espadas have a Girling clutch cylinders, others have a Bonaldi like mine... Philippe M. S2 7987 www.lamborghinimiura.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congrats for your Jarama purchase Peter, love the red interior! I my files I have rebuilt kit no SP 2524 for rear Espada calipers, 1968-on, same calipers as Alfa 2600 spyder 1963-68 and Ferrari 365 GTB GTC 1968-later, but not sure if these are for the ventilated discs. You should have rear ventilated discs like S2 Espadas , exact? I also heard that the calipers should be the same as some Austin-Healys but I,ve never check that.. Philippe M. Slave cylinder rebuilt kit no SP 2029. I remember Eurospares selling the complete slave cylinder at one point... Philippe M. S2 7987 www.lamborghinimiura.com
Hi Philippe, Why don't you just email a set of those over to Peter and myself. They look just great! ;>) Bob S.
