Just to let all you guys know the review that we've all been waiting for is on this weeks top gear.
I wonder why it took so damn long, I thought that it will be on the first episode of the current series, maybe even in the very beginning of it. Even a lesser UK show Fifth Gear drove it ages ago! Yes, better late than never, but never wasn't even an option here so it's OK to get pissed
Especially given that it took them about a nano-second to get their hands on a Bugatti Veyron SuperSports, a car that virtually no other TV show will get their hands on.
I think if they pick on anything it will be the price and the looks. It won't be on the performance or engineering.
Over the years he has really warmed up to the F1-style transmissions, and from what I'v heard the 458's puts all others to shame. However I look forward to what he will have to say about the no more manuals thing...
I can't remember if it was Top Gear or Fifth Gear but when they got the 458 the first time it rained and snowed so they sent it back without a proper test.
I remember James May reviewed an Alfa and he was required to put a coin into a cardboard box mounted on the dash for every time he used a word like passion or the like when describing something about it. The 458 is going to require a bank manager taking deposits for the amount of times a passionate Italian flare word is used with this review.
I think the 458 might be in for a hard time. IMO Clarkson seems to like simple, honest cars. With manual gear boxes. Hardly how'd you explain a 458. I'd be surprised if he doesn't compare the death of the manual Ferrari with some world changing event. Really looking forward to the test though. Last few episodes have been great.
True fact, but remember.... "I Like to think of Ferraris as a scaled down version of...God." - Clarkson When they reviewed the Scud, he started by bashing it, but had to switch up the test and admit that the car is just outrageously awesome! Also, remember, he couldn't find anything wrong with the 430..."The window switches are a little far...bit of...bit of a stretch" I think you're definitely right with your predictions, but they'll probably conclude with how great it this car really is. I can't wait to see this great car through the lens of the Top Gear camera crew though, the editing on that show is part of the contributing factor that puts it miles ahead oh all other car shows, ever.
In an article for Top Gear magazine, Clarkson mentioned that he thought the 458 was the first truly beautiful Ferrari since the 308. He also said that he didn't like the indicator and wiper controls on the steering wheel so I'm sure he'll have a lot to say about that on Sunday... +1. Too bad this won't be on in the U.S. for a bit. Were on what, season 7 or 8 while everywhere is is on 15?
If you're talking about the Episode which aired on Sunday (Ep.5), the 458 is not on the show. It's about time the world soaked up some of this link: http://www.casttv.com/shows/top-gear Every TopGear episode, as they air, every Sunday. Period. Good stuff! Plus, every other Episode from each season. I felt though, that the time spent on the Bugatti Veyron Supersport was far too short. Good episode though, be sure to catch the Senna tribute video at the end. Very well done. _J
The casttv.com link is far easier to use with MUCH more in the ways of episode choice. Every top gear and a direct link with no hassle. _J
