Hey guys, it looks like I'm prob gonna be in the greater Boston area this weekend, and was wondering if there were any meets/GTG's/shows going on that I could hit up while Im down there. Or even just any suggestions on stuff to do.

If nothing else I may just try and swing by FoNE to have a look around...

    Thanks,

    Matt

You definitely don't win the reading the forum first before asking your question award :)

Tutto Italiano is on this weekend, and as of my reply is the post right next to this one!

Lars Anderson Auto Museum and generally great fun.

:) Enjoy Tutto - should be lots of cars out if the weather co-operates.

2 chances...slim and none. I haven't seen an Enzo there since 2004. In fact the turnout of fcars in general seems to be declining with each successive year. Apathy or boredom with the show perhaps??? Let's see what this year brings considering that they upped the show registration fee.

Sad but true. Looking at my slides (gives you an idea how long ago) from years past I was struck by some of the metal it used to attract.
Don't get me wrong though its still well worth the trip.

Apathy & boredom...yes. Comes from being thrown on top of the hill for the past several years. Many people don't bother to walk up (no signage either) and we may be tired of having to walk down to see other marques. They should rotate groups every year and it might bring out more players. They also need to move beyond a static show and have some pizzaz, like a band, bag pipers, models, or groups of cars driving around the park. Don't know how the town fathers of the City of Brookline would react though. My 2 cents.

Given the size of the crowd it attracts now I don't see the need for sideshows. Having the cars move, or even just run, would add to the experience though.

Back when we were down on the lawn they'd have us all fire up our cars at high noon. That was a sound to behold.

Also poor planning of how/where to group cars appropriately upon arrival has baffled me in the recent past. Last couple of years I get there ~9am with my Tr and they have to figure out what group to put me with??? I'll be using this year as a final barometer to determine my future participation in the event.

I remember one year (may not have been Italian Car day) when there was an actual hillclimb.
Don't get me started on the museum management. I was born blocks away and have been involved one way or another for many years. The folks running things are very well intentioned and are generous with their time, expertise and money but the level of professionalism is sometimes lacking.
It almost seems that they still haven't gotten over the disastrous move to Boston years ago and mistrust anything too sophisticated.

I'll be there, I think it's really great. I have not been to the Hartford show and other big F shows so I can't compare them.

There are so many great cars there that none of them get the proper look-see from me. It's like cliffs notes when so many cars are worthy of a good look and talk with the owner. I go up on the hill for sure.
