I have shields on my 308gt4 and I think they work with the Bertone body.
Not for me but its up to you on what you like or don't like its your car. the yellow doesn't look to bad on a black car! but I wouldn't put one on a blue like mine.
Mike, The 288GTO is one of the cars that came "after" the 308. Surre it shares (most) of the lines of the 308, it's "not" the 308. It's that periods "Enzo" of the day. The badges were deemed appropritate for that particular model to help differentiate it it from the "mass market" 308. Sticking by my opinion, even though it's only worth .02 but the 308's that "add on" the shields are playing the wannabe game and diluting the meaning of the shield. Yes later on Ferrari used it on their mass market cars (as an option) but they were using it as a marketing tool, much the same as say ( hate to use the American car analogy) that GT stripes were available as an option on Camaros and Mustangs even tho they weren't Shelby's, Boss's, Z28's, SS's etc. Sure the owners loved the look and the identification of higher performance, but it wasn't quite the same as the real deal, only the appearance. How about a Pontiac Firebird with a "Flaming Chicken" on the hood of a Firebird that wasn't a genuine Trans-Am? At first the shields weren't on the 308, then later and high performance Ferraris had them, then the market wanted them, then Ferrari let them have it from the factory as an option. So be it. Have to ask oneself what the purpose of the (add-on) badge on a 308 is for. For the owner to want to identify with a higher performance?, or for their idea of "better" aesthetics?, to want to "show off" the image? Ask the 360 / 430 crowd their opinions of putting on Stradale stripes or Scuderia stripes on their cars. Ask them about how they would view the owners of an "after market" stipe. I think there are very few if any people who do that, even tho the stripes are beatiful on the cars that were so equiped and truely compliment the body lines of those cars (again my opinion.... And I also know there was a factory delete option for those who didn't like them). And in the end it comes down to "to each their own" and my opinion comes down to "The car (maker / manufacturer) makes the badge, not the (badger's aftermarket ) badge makes the car" JD
Right you are, sir. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The body lines that Pininifarina sculpted for the 308 don't allow for the badges. More current models did allow for the placement. I think they got it absolutely correct. A badge simply looks out of place and takes away from the beauty, elegance and simplicity of the design. Really? How bout the hideous U.S. flag mirrors that look stuck on as an afterthought? I think Sergio P. probably vomited over those, no offense intended to those unfortunate U.S. -car owners who must suffer with them, myself included.
Wow some harsh opinions on here. Mine are stickers and were on the car when I bought it. I may take them off, but for now I like 'em. Do what you like. I gotta take some pictures in better light. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Better pic, real camera instead of the iPhone. From this angle and in this light, I like the look. And yes the 458 has shields too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi there, my name is Martin, and this is my first post!! (Sorry for my eventually bad english) I come from germany and have a rosso corsa 308 GTB QV (Euro-Version). The stickers were on my car, when I bought it few months ago. I found, it looks nice, but after a few days, I took them off. Now, I like it better. But, as some say here, it´s a personal choice, and not really to mention. Greetings Martin
Hey!! Welcome and thanks for joining in the discussion!! This is a great website for 308 Owners.... I don't have any room LEFT for shields, on this one... Image Unavailable, Please Login
When the 288 GTO came out with the factory scudetto shields, it was becuase the car was originally supposed to be a holmologated street version of a race car. - Gruppe B cars for international rally. So the sheilds up till then were only used on racing cars. I have them on my car because if the racing team.... my way of supporting them. Why they are on the newer cars almost as standard from the factory - I don't know. It's almost to the point where the shields are too neumerous and the rectangular badge is becoming more rare! As far as shirts, and trinkets - you know Ferrari's real business.
It's a popular question. Here are a few answers... 308 side front fender "badge" question Fender Shields FERRARI MAGNETIC SHIELDS EMBLEMS Have Shields on Your Fenders? 84 QV, should I wingbadge or no?
I think the shield should go on the door, or rear fender, more room in those places, would probably look better. Then again, I had a late 90's Tacoma that had the script on the door. I had them removed and liked it so much more.
