Photos of Mike Parkes when he was working on the FIAT group Lancia Dino engined Stratos, taken at Monza late in his life. Also the 375 Vignale #0286AM from Carrera Panamerica 1953. We are trying to figure out what the logos on the left and right are. The middle ones are SCCA and Automobile Club d'Italia. We also started up the Carrera Panamericana thread again, but under collectibles(thats what it was under). I think it should be moved to this section. I know alot of Kodachrome slides were taken at the Carrera because I have seen many of them turn up, but they are very hard to find. What a great race!!

    Hi Tom,
Mike Parkes is here at Monza in 1975 with the Stratos of Carlo Facetti and Vittorio Branbilla.
Here is a photo with the right side logo. A.G.A.C.I. (Association Generale Automobile des Pilotes Independants) was a french club from Paris.

Thank you, very helpful. You must have a great collection of photos and information as you always have an answer and photo!!

You probably already know about that French site with many Lancia Stratos vintage racing photos. If you need the link PM me.

Yes, I know the site. The Stratos Gr4 is a fantastic prototipo. Ferrari, Dino, Stratos... Same family!

Since you're talking Parkes (here with Maglioli and Stratos prototype testing) I guess this one will also go through moderation:

This one should be a replica. The Alitalia n°539 is the only survivor of the two silhouette Stratos.

Thank you. I remember seeing photos of both turbos in Japan. I know one was a replica.
Here is a picture of the Marlboro car on fire. I like the shortail turbo version better. My favorite Stratos is the group 4 TDF 1973. Did not realize the cars front was totally different with reshaped flares(a totally new front clip). Check the Targa 1973 cars also.

This was about as close as Ferrari got to sportscar racing in the mid 1970's after the Ferrari team was broken up!

    Sorry, back to real Ferrari's

My father took this shot in New Zealand. As you can see it was taken at the "Dunedin Festival Road Race" in 1957.
This was one of two Super Squalos racing in NZ in 1957. This car is #FL 9002 and ran by Reg Parnell. After various New Zealand owners it retired to a Museum in Australia.

The other was #FL 9001 driven by Peter Whitehead. The Whitehead car had a period in NZ where it was powered by a Chev V8 and clothed in a Morris Minor body and raced with much verve in the "All Comers Saloon Cars".

Surprisingly, in 1947, Enzo had not notepaper Ferrari

étonnant, en 1947, Enzo n'avait pas encore de papier à en-tête Ferrari

Some great drivers... Unfortunatelly no longer with us: James Hunt, Denny Hulme, Ronnie Peterson, Patrick Depailler, Clay Regazzoni, Graham Hill, and Ken Tyrrell and Colin Chapman.
Also Jackie Stewart, Tim Schenken, Jody Scheckter, Jacky Ickx, Nicky Lauda, Jean-Pierre Jarier, George Follmer, Carlos Reutemann, John Surtees, Jochen Mass, Mario Andretti, Arturo Merzario, John Watson, Emerson Fittipaldi, Stirling Moss. Nice photos...

    Attention Sir Bruno,

I didn't want to release all my photos on this site but I guess I owe it to you to show you a photo of Whitehead at the same meeting, at the same corner.

There were definitely two Super Squalos at the meeting plus as you rightly say the ex Gonzales 375. The 375 came to NZ after Rossier had put a sports car body on it. The NZ owner, Ron Roycroft re bodied it along the lines of the Indianapolis car.

If you look closely you will see the photo of Whitehead is date stamped.
    Regards
    Jonathan

Thanks Tom, found my car in one of the pics:
Do you know who is the driver? Wolfram? Anymore?

This is a huge find and basically completes my historical file on the car.
    Thanks! you made my day
