So I might head over to KC on the 8th. Aside from highway 5 (which I might not check out as there is a chance I'm not taking my MR2) is there anything else to do?

    drive to STL :D

I've always wanted to go to the Nelson-Atkins museum, if you're into art I'd check that out. It is inside a sculpture park and close to a contemporary art museum as well.

Boulevard beer and Bryant's, KC Masterpiece, and a ton of other great BBQ restaurants are there

You could watch the Royals lose :)

    Truman Presidential library in Independence

country club plaza is a big shopping area, though I've heard it's gotten pretty maintstream (i.e. GAP, banana republic, etc) and lost its local flavor.

If you're up for a road trip, Kansas Speedway is close, as are Heartland Park and the Fighter Plane museum in Topeka, or a trip to Lawrence (cool college town).

or, a trip to Salina to see Rob Lay's boyhood home :D

Last time I was there, we took a little detour and stopped in independence, mo, the home of Eisenhower, kind of a cool little place, and not far from KC at all.

    .

I'll have to check this out.

Nah not much of a baseball fan. Although I can't wait for football to start up (go Vikings).

I'll have to check this out.

Really tempting actually although I don't think I'll have the time to check it out. :(

We like to go to Saddlers racing and drive karts. They do 40-50mph. We like to eat etiopian food at the blue nile in the farmers market. Other than that, we eat and then eat.

That place (saddlers) is awesome. I went there about six years ago at a MR2 meet. There was something interesting about racing go karts then taking our cars on the infamous hi 5 afterwords.

With that said I managed to get a hotel down. All I need to do is get directions to some of the attractions mentioned (including that nice stretch of Highway 5). Who knows I might actually be able to relax on this trip :D.

If you like outstadning restaurants and a bit of a road trip, the Justus Drugstore is about 1/2 hour from downtown. It is one of the best in the state and has been very well reviewed in national press.
If you're a wijne guy, the American Restaurant in the Crown Center has the deepest list in the state.

Just got back and I had a great time despite the heat. Unfortunately I did not get around to checking out all of the things that were suggested. This was mostly because of the high heat in the case of the Sculpture Garden, running into someone I knew in High School, and just not having enough time to see everything. If anything I should have stayed longer and I probably will next time I'm in the area.

On that note a trip to The Plaza on Monday provided me with a great chance to spot a black Gallardo, a black Aston Martin DB9, a BMW Z9.
