Interesting...I also received a private PM of a Ferrari owner who suffered about $50K of damage as his car took a nose dive off the transporter and hit the pavement...got same treatment (or worse and threats when he complained)...amazing!

    This is an incredible statement..........

GM painted over half of my car at two weeks old (failed gas tank seal on white paint) and handed it back....."here ya go".

    agree .

As a multicar owner, who ships 4-5 cars a year, i know "stuff" happens. They way they "handled" the situation, in THIS economy, is not excusable.

Mistakes happen, but fix it, and make a reasonable customer happy .

Now thousands of people into higher end cars will question these guys.

Fchat Sponsor Intercity Lines and Demoise Trucking have been great for me for many years of messing with cars.

    A most excellent point.

Thank you for your openness. One mistake or not...this issue is serious enough to warrant never giving my business to this firm.

Because some people ONLY care about GETTING THEIR HANDS ON YOUR MONEY. Once that happens, their job is "done" IMO. Happens everywhere. Put it on a credit card and dispute the hell out of it if there's a problem.

More than a few truck drivers are serious meth heads. Most are decent, hard working, honest people but my experience is some of these guys are hard core drug users.

We do a lot of work for the company in question , and they have been very fair with us. I probably paint and or buff out 25-30 cars a year for them and they always tell me spare no expense and make it perfect. Some cars in question are new cars on the way to dealers.

If you are one of the many who does work for this company, and there appears to be very many of you, and you do up to 30 cars a year, the damage rate must be astounding. Do all the owners receiving their cars know all this is going on?

WOW - Apparently you guys haven't heard of...

    BMW of North America, Inc. v. Gore (94-896), 517 U.S. 559 (1996)

Look up the case, and ask yourself if you want to be involved in something like that.

I believe the words here, and I'm borrowing this from another board I frequent.. would be:

    "Sued FULLY into Bankruptcy"

Intercity is a sponsor, not HC. I think HC has inquired in the past though.

In our case the contract is with the transporter. They sign our work order which states they have the authority to authorize work on the vehicle. I would think in the bill of lading there is language which gives the transport company some type of limited power of attorney. I never have read the small print when shipping cars.

I used HC two years ago and they were first-rate. Too bad that the new owners have chosen to take things in this direction. I will not use them again.

Piss off your customers - what a wonderful way to run a business...

Let's consider this scenario: They scratch the hell out of your door BUT they call you first, insist that you come see what happened then insist that they take it immediately anywhere you want and have it repaired at their expense. Do it, then follow up with a call a week later to make sure you are happy, and apologize again.

Would you use them again? Hell yes you would AND you would tell your friends to also because they can be trusted. They will stand behind their service.

Instead, this happens. Now I won't use them.

First, a caveat: I have never used HC, so I do not have first-hand knowledge of their quality.

However, a couple of years ago on my way to Pebble, I chased an HC truck down I-80 toward Sacramento; two back tires & brakes of the trailer were ON FIRE, and the driver ignored my flashing lights and honking horn attempting to alert him. He continued to drive on past a number of slow/stop/turnout opportunities without slowing. I finally gave up, and accelerated like hell to get away from him, expecting some real excitement. I never heard if anything unfortunate happened.....but I did think to self; well, if I ever need to transport my car, maybe I'll call IC/PP and some others first.......

If treated my customers like this, I wouldn't have customers left! I treat each car like it's my Ferrari on the truck and everyone's happy. This is why I'm fully loaded and going to Pebble beach :D

New cars with shipping damage is quite common. The law does not require it (or repairs) to be disclosed and so no one does. Common even among Ferraris.

yes, "new cars" which come from the factory can/do sustain damage. they are repaired by factory authorized repair services. however if the damage is beyond a certain amount they must disclose to the buyer.
this is a very different situation. repairs performed by HC i doubt are approved from the factory. i doubt the same level of quality. if a car is put on the truck in perfect condition i don't think it's too much to receive it in the same condition. if repairs are needed i would like the company to be upfront about what happened. And i would want to pick where the repair is done. i see this as basic business 101, if they are interested in repeat business.
i feel lucky my f car came unmolested and i will not take the chance with HC again.

+1 on Intercity. I have heard universally good things from everyone I know that has used them - including for some very expensive cars.

Another one on the poop list is Reliable Carriers. They damaged one of my cars when I shipped it to an event in Vegas and refused to offer any satisfaction. Turned out they damaged a LOT of the cars that were shipped out to the event, and most of the owners I talked to were not happy.
