    Hi guys,
I've been looking to buy a CanAm car. Most likely a M8. I've looked at a few but wanted to make this post to see if anyone here knows of a good candidate.

    I love Can Am cars

If you go to Laguna for the historics you can talk to owners there

Early "monster car" or later & lighter, more kind & gentle one?

Might want to start in a 2-Liter car or a tube frame small block (M1 or M6) before a monocoque car, but ymmv. JohnB has a LOT of experience in fast cars and even he is very respectful of the later CA machinery.

Chuck Haines would also be a great contact. I see you're on the Left Coast. I'd talk to Bob Lee and head to the Pre-Reunion and Reunion events this weekend and next. The best place to find a serious car like this is through existing owners. Many cars have varying degrees of provenance, just like old Ferrari race cars! (fancy that). Good luck!

Youre right this is a small community. I remember working corners 30yrs ago at Gratten Raceway and seeing ( I cant remember his name now, from Brainard Minn. ) a M8 in a the ASP class that was a thrill to see and hear. He would pay sometimes the fee for a BSP racer to race in his class just so he could go against someone as his M8 was so fast there was nothing else out there. Those things were ground pounding marvels. Thanks Norm
