Michael at Spa. Kimi is so fast at Spa and it would be a good test before he comes back next year. It would also give Rosberg a good benchmark! :D

Kimi? Whats the point? He sleeps when the race starts, then wakes up the last 5 laps or so and does the fastest lap and ends up 6-7th.

In 2008 this is true, I think he got like 13 fastest laps and 10 were back to back races.

He is bloody good in spa though, as is Michael but Kimi won with useless car last year, Michael won't. Although I think he's already signed a contract for Citroen for next year has he not? Then he'll come back to replace Webber at RB for 2012 :D.

Right. I think the last one with a successful comeback was Prost in the early nineties. But these times are gone, much harder today to find the connection again.
Besides: Kimi doesn't have it anymore.

Mercedes could put Heidfeld into the 2nd Merc, but I doubt it would make much of a difference: He wouldn't have the ten grid penalty, but he hasn't driven the car in this season (dunno whether he drove it in testing, but even if he did that was a long time ago and several updates back).

+1 Especially because of the testing ban. and Kimi definately lost it.

Your on drugs if you really think Heidfeld would be a potential replacement for MS. Heidfeld was never quick..except towards the end of a contract year. Might as well put V. Rossi in the car...lol

    Interesting thought.

What would happen to Schumi's penalty if he didn't start the race? Would it move to the next race?

What makes you think that Kimi would be any faster than MS? Hell, he would probably be more expensive :)

    No need to be rude:

Heidfeld is Mercedes official 3rd driver. If anything would happen to Nico or MS, Heidfeld gets the seat. So it is not far fetched to imagine, that should Merc not want to run MS in Spa, Heidi would get the seat.

Or to put it differently: If MS doesn't start in Spa and Merc buts anybody but Heidi into that seat, it'd be a gigantic insult to Heidfeld. Not even Ferrari did that to BADoer.

Massa is quick, when he gets out to a lead. Ninety Nine times out of one hundred, if he doesn't go into the first corner in the lead, he will not win.

I'm afraid to say it, but I believe his only title shot was in '08. I don't think he will ever be in that position again.

I apologize for saying it like that, wasn't trying to be rude, just a choice of bad words for a reaction.

While it makes more sense to put Heidfeld in the car, I still think that Mercedes would be better off trying to steal off someone like Hulkenberg(although his car is spanking the Mercedes) or Sutil.

I don't know how you can get to the conclusion that Massa is quick but Heidfeld is not.

Heidfeld, for the vast majority of his career, was ranked very similarly to Webber. A guy that competed well against teammates but never got 'the chance'. You can see what happens when a guy like that does get his chance...
