I'm sure glad this guy didn't want to criticise anyone, because it seems to me that he only missed three or four people in all of F1, himself being one of them.

    +1.

Man I'm getting so sick and tired of the whole world blaming Alonso for their problems. This guy was/is the team manager and heck if he had created a great team maybe Alonso would not wanted to go to Ferrari.

His comments make perfect sense. Alonso used Renault as a parking spot after his emergency exit from the toxic environment that he created at McLaren before he could get to Ferrari. Of course morale at Renault must have been horrible. It also did not help to have NP Jr.

Personally, i think Alonso is one of the only drivers out there who pushes no matter what car he's in.

I don't think it's fair for Eric to blame Alonso when the car sucked since pre-season. Very silly statement from someone of his calibre.

That's what PlanetF1 has the title set as.

For the record I'm an Alonso fan. I just figured I'd help those that hate him so much have another chance to say it.

Who cares what he says, Alonso is the best bet we have at Ferrari, the rest is just mental masturbation.

So much negative stuff about Alonso in the past few years. It makes you wonder if that many people can be wrong. He had better do something at Ferrari and soon or he will be gone from there too. He has no other teams to go to as far as I can see. Maybe the old saying "if it looks like a turd and it smells like a turd, maybe it is a turd." is true. :) how can so many be wrong? One has to admit that Alonso is driving hard lately. Lets see what the rest of the season brings us.

How about blaming Renault for creating such a bad environment? Lousy car, cheating principals/driver, rehiring Alonso. Just a few years ago this team was winning championships and since then things had gone downhill regardless of Alonso.

Pretty lame assessment for the team principal in charge even if he's portaying correctly the situation. He should have fired Alonso if he felt so strongly at the time. Sour grapes IMO.

The hub of the matter - PF1 is the National Enquirer of the F1 sites IMHO.

And it's only going to get worse with a months break :-(

    Cheers,

Alonso had a crappy car! That's why they/he performed poorly. Jeez, what other multiple WC driver can we think of who has a crappy car!

His (Boullier's) remarks are spot on but his delivery is off the mark.

    Briatore (Team pricipal/driver manager),
The Piquets (The entitled saints from the Benetton days)
and Alonso (ditto w/ suspect motivation in lieu of greener pastures at Ferrari)

Except that Mercedes' #2 driver firmly controls the WDC champ by 56 points.

Whereas at Renault the WDC champ controlled his #2 drivers by 73 points (in today's system).

    So the analogy falls flat.

Remember: Before you can complain about the car, you have to beat your team mate.

His car wasn't very good in 2008, they concentrated fairly early on to build a 2009 car, one would assume when you're Fernando Alonso, a double WDC, he would be able to develop the car to at least a #3 car. Renault didn't have the big budgets of Mclaren/Ferrari any more but certainly in the top 5.

I said it a lot since last year, I truly believe that Hamilton did the developing later on in 2007, he already chose a different brake caliper manufacturer compared to Alonso very early on . I think that Hamilton learned early on from Alonso and continued developing an amazing car in 2008, then in pt2 2009 he did the same.

Alonso did sweet FA, even with a smaller budget he really should have been able to do something.

So far Kubica has 89 points compared to Alonso's 73 points from last year.

Wouldn't it be funny if for some reason Kubica doesn't pick up anymore points this season? We could send a nice piece of humble pie to Monsieur Boullier and tell him his comments were a pile of Boullier-sh_it.

Pretty unlikely. Kubica is doing a fantastic job and will continue to be the "best of the rest".

I won't be surprised if he wins one before the end of the year. He's consistently in place to take advantage if a leader fails.

I don't agree in the slightest about this. Car speed is something which is developed by engineers, not drivers. Drivers can only work with what their given - no one should expect more.

    Especially with these testing restrictions.

Huh? I will be surprised if any non-Red Bull/Ferrari/McLaren wins a race.

I would never ignore him, but I don't think the Renault is up to par. It would take some strange circumstances for him to win. You know something weird like the two front runners crashing into each other at the pit exit. Like that would ever happen...
    ;)
