IMO, Lamborghini (the company) did certainly seem chase that 'image' that you (Tommy) say "the factory is doing all it can to distance itself from...", when they thought it was a money pit. Many options seemed aimed at that very market.
When those guys were buying the cars, Lambo was falling over itself to appeal to them. (Something I did not see Ferrari do, I might add.)

You are right, when it was owned by Chrysler. When Audi bought the company they decided they needed to elevate the brand's image if the brand was to survive at all. Lets face it, all cars give off a certain brand image and it's up to the owners who become stewards of the brand that in fact protect the cars over the years. Part of the reason country clubs have standards is to protect the very image that draws members in the first place. You see it as members acting like snobs, they see it as a retreat towards something better, a standard to live up to. It's no different than the expectation someone has when they walk into a restaurant for an expensive meal and someone is causing a problem that ruins the experience. You see it as an affront to you. It's not about you, it's about creating an experience and that experience is part of building a brand. It's no different with the finer hotels and resorts.

I recently saw a magnificent 1938 Bentley fully restored to new condition. This car was breathtaking in every way and is now worth roughly $4 million. This beautiful restoration happened because someone loved the car, respected it along with the history and considered themselves a steward of the car and manufacturer behind it. Lamborghinis of today are no different and many of us drive our cars yet take the utmost care and part of that care is protecting the brand. Ever notice how many people get upset when they see a Lamborghini mistreated? Remember the posts of the drunk walking over the hood of a Murcielago? I've not seen that much rage over a car in a long time. For many of us, when you post a tacky photo with a Lamborghini you're just as disrespectful to the car as some driver who doesn't take care of it.

I'm thrilled if you like tacky women if that's your thing as it leaves the others for those who have an appreciation for someone who strives for a higher standard in life. I'd be snooty only if I didn't think you could pursue that same standard and I'm not saying that at all. If going as low as possible thrills you, knock yourself out.

There are some great looking women here and I do like those posts, but I do wince when I see some of the cheap looking unoriginal nonsense. Sorry if I'm not onboard the same train and that you only see me as a snob. I don't much care. It was my commitment to standards that was the very foundation of my success in the first place, so I'm really happy with where it's taken me.

Lamborghini under Audi's control is so focused on image and how women are portrayed around their cars that they personally sign off on ever model rather than rely on agency discretion. This is the very reason you see that same model over and over again as she fits the brand image perfectly and we all agree she's a beauty, right?

    Dear Lamborghinisti,

Tommy, I think you are mixing too many things in one train of thought.

A brand image is....just that...an image. It's just to SELL you on what is perceived to be popular to move product.

On the one hand you say being a steward of the brand is to keep the car from being mistreated. I'll agree with you 100% My VT Roadster is in pristine concours condition and I put my money where my mouth is and drive it every day. The underside and suspension is as clean as the paint work. I don't care that no one can see the suspension but I KNOW...and that's all that matters.

That's the physical car itself, and after that....this is where we disagree. No product is going to make me change how I want to live...good, bad or ugly. Honestly, I kinda laugh at the whole "black silk shirt" thing. I really love the car as it's the most exotic car in the world and it's closest thing to true rolling artwork. I don't think other car in the world is as good enough to hang on a wall in the Louvre. Buy a Ferrari for racing and performance, Buy a Lamborghini for sheer exotic artwork.

After that...there is no after that....it's just a car....not a moral barometer. Actions speak more than image....I don't lie, cheat, steal or rip anyone off. I take absolute pride in providing the business services I do and in the end, that's what counts. I won't live by some contrived image an adverting firm decided that a certain brand of car should have....and I'm surprised that someone in your position could be influenced as such.

As for county clubs....yeah, I'll agree....it's how you want to live and have others live around you. Paying $350.00 for a stupid mail box to comply with uniformity regs...umm...OK but some neighbor telling me how I should live my life....ah...no.

I will continue to have fun as I see it, no one paid my way, no one controls my way. If you want to keep this thread nice and corporate lakie....sure, just post nice car show controlled images that have nothing to do with reality.

OK, I promise....enough talk! OK Tommy, Darolls, post up ! Just make sure the hemline is below the knee... :D
