348 Induction kits?

Perhaps fit a "better" air filter like a K&N or a Finer Filter. They reckon they improve airflow into the engine and make more power.

What induction kit are you talking about mate?

I have never heard of an induction kit for these cars.

 

Ive seen them, they dont blow my skirt up.

They look impressive...................thats about it.

I would save your money, but that is just my opinion.

 

I agree with PAP, save your money. Go with a K&N filter and you will feel a difference.

I'm really not clear on how any re-routed piping system is going to improve on the present design. Seems to me we are exracting cold air from outside sources with the ram air design. Taking it from anyplace else wouls have to be a negative. Maybe a flow increase across the filter media with a K&N panel but thats about it.

 

I'd love to hear from some experts first...but yep.

FYI to 355 owners. Your ram air design is NOT connected.

 

Induction, ram air - how to get more air into the intake? Here's one for the 348 guys - put your hand into the air intake at the rear quarter glass, either side. Feel at the bottom of the metal tube. Do you feel the cut out that bleeds excess air before it goes into the hose that leads to the air filter?

Now cover the air bleed slot with duct tape. There, you are getting more air into your intake and increasing the "ram air" effect. No, don't really do this.

My mistake...It wasn't on UConn Husky's but is now. Don't know which fuel control he has.

 

We probably dont have much in the way of options to replace the stock air filter, but I would go with a K&N air filter as their quality is really good.

In saying that......................when I first got my 348 I was all over it like flies at a BBQ.

I ended up finding my LH induction hose under the quarterpanel was off.

I thought I felt the car was lacking around 100HP when I first bought it.

Was a pain, but I got my big hands in there, loosened the hose clamp, got it back on and re-tightend the hose clamp.

After I did that, I had all my 300 ponies again and I was flying down the road like a bat out of hell.

I mention the air slots 'cause I think many owners don't realize they are there. And how much difference can BMC and other induction systems make when you have a "leak" further up the pipe, lol. But they sure look pretty!

You either have to suck more air in via a turbo or sc, or push more air out with an improved exhaust. Then improving the stock intake (such as significantly increasing the surface area of the air filter) will yield results, but changes to it alone aren't going to make much of a difference.

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to say about this opening (if you are joking or not etc.) but I suspect it's more of a water drain than air bleed although it could be both. I suppose there could be a chance you could blow off the hose or deform the air filter if too much air were forced in by very high speed driving.

 

It allows water to drain (and there are also drain holes in the bottom of the air filter compartment) as well as making sure the pressure never goes over atmosphere due to the slight ram air effect. The Bosch MAF sensors can read slightly above atmosphere to account for driving below sea level and high pressure systems, but there isn't much overhead. Anything more will cause them to send bad data to the ECUs.

But yes, it was a joke - don't block these vents.

The difference is the induction noise is pretty cool and I personnally like the looks of the 2 airfilters and i also used red silicone tube conections, looks great. Performance wise probably not noticeably superior.
