Mitchell- They were $50 last year. Better get one before it is $70. Your car does not have a remote, does it? Taz Terry Phillips
I have now 2 remotes, one clone of the other, thanks to the gentleman from France Eric355. I only have one leather case and would be nice to get another one. But $60 for a freaking piece of leather, a button, and $1 worth of labor. It does not even have the little horsy on it.
Mitchell- A set of three new fobs from Ferrari is $550+, assuming you have the PIN. So you drop one on the asphalt, and there are two. Mine each have a leather case, so breaking one is a bit more difficult. You pays your money, you takes your chances. Duct tape might work, but is not quite as attractive, and makes the button way harder to depress. That is what those little holes in the leather allow. Taz Terry Phillips
Hi Guys. I am a complete Newbie both to forum posting and Ferrari ownership, having just bought a '99 355F1 - what a car! I have the Red remote which works fine, 1 black which also works fine but 1 which doesn't. I assumed it was the battery as the light did not work, just bought and fitted a new battery and now the light works but it won't unlock the car. Oh I don't have the PIN ! I have read this post from start to finish and saw that UK cars don't have a PIN ? Is that true as I am in the UK and if so how do I get the second black one to work ? Eric, are you my only hope by to get it working with your cloning skills ? Any advice will be gratefully received. Cheers, Brian
Hi Brian, From one newbie to another, I am in a similar situation. I have just purchased a 360 and it only has one black remote and no PIN. UK cars should have this PIN and I'm told that I need to contact a lady called Mandy who works at Maranello Sales who are the main UK Ferrari dealers. I need to prove ownership of the car which I will do once the V5 comes back. The number for Maranello is 01784 558422. If you can prove ownership give her a call and let me know how you get on. I need a spare black remote to clone so that is my next quest....
Brian, having the PIN is a good thing because it is the ultimate solution to start your car wherever you are and whatever happens to your remote. Try to get it from a dealer. But ... it will be of no help for your second black. Indeed, even with the current PIN, you cannot have the ECU to relearn your complete set of remotes with the same PIN. Cloning or buying a new complete set with its PIN are your only solutions to have 3 working remotes. Needless to say that cloning your 3rd remote is by far the cheapest.
Thanks for the info Darren. I don't have the docs either yet, so proof of ownership will be difficult but I will try to remember to post when I have spoken to the lady in question. Eric, I assume you are able to clone my non-working black remote from the red one which I have ? Could you quote me the costing, please. Merci.
Brian- On your inoperative remote, pull the battery and check for corrosion on the contacts. If you find any, scrape it off with a knife or razor. Then pinch the contacts closer together. I even use battery terminal spray on contacts that have corroded, applied with a toothpick. After reinstalling the battery, spin it several times while compressing the contacts with your other hand to ensure the battery is making good contact and give her a shot. Yours sounds like it is getting enough juice to light the LED, but not enough to open the doors and disarm the alarm. Another check you can make is to let the immobilizer arm (120 seconds max) and then with the fob on your keyring, see if it will disarm the immobilizer from inside the car and allow the car to start. If it does, try another battery. I recommend the Duracell 21/23 shown in the attachment. I have never had one leak. I have had Everready Energizers leak, so will not use them. If it still does not work, Eric may still be able to clone that fob if the EEPROM has not been corrupted. That would give you a complete set of three fobs. I would send both your black fobs to him, however, with the inoperative one so marked. Then if he cannot clone your inoperative fob, he can clone your operating one and you will have three fobs. All the Ferraris with this alarm system had a PIN, including the UK cars. Eric has cloned a dozen or so fobs for me with no problems. Here is the latest Alarm ECU reprogramming document. Cannot remember if the latest version is in here already or not. Taz Terry Phillips Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Taz. I have given it a thorough clean and tried again but still nothing and I have convinced myself it has the wrong code. If I try to press both the faulty and good remotes together the car will not open but if I use just the good one, it is fine which sort of indicates to me that the faulty one is sending the wrong code and interupting the signal from the good one ?? I don't want to go off the subject but the only other problem I have at the moment is the slow down light has started to flash - it drove back from the guy I purchased it from perfectly but now will not go out. I have read on here that the slow down ECU is most likely to be the fault but is there a way of being sure which one ? Cheers.
Brian- It is possible that is a non-matching fob that never went with your car. If so, then Eric can use it as the fob to be cloned to your working black fob. If one interferes with the other, that would seem to indicate they are both working and on the same frequency. Good news is now you do not need an extra black fob. I would ask the 348/355 forum the question on your slow down light, which may be an O2 (lambda) sensor or possibly a failed catalytic converter. Go to this site and download the three volume workshop manual. Should cure any insomnia and may answer your question. http://www.ferraridatabase.com/The_Downloads/Downloads.htm Taz Terry Phillips
Maranello72,Hello. I am new to FerrariChat. I'm interested in your thread,a Willem EPROM Programmer. I bought my F355 a few months ago and it only came with one remote. I don't have the original pin, unfortunately. I have read alot of the threads and understand how to clone. I managed to get one black fob. I'm ready to clone! But there are many version of Willem EPROM Programmer. I know that you bought another universal willem. Could you explain to me exact version ? Ex. Willem EPROM Programmer PCB4.5C Enhanced Willem PCB5.5C Universal Programmer Sudden question for my first time. Thanks Scott
Hi. I purchased the hardware, I have been reading but have not been able to figure out what to do here, I have used card programmers but never this. Can anyone please tell me what settings to use, and what menu to follow. I installed software version willem eprom 98d11 Thank You
Guys, Be careful with your fobs. The latest rage here in Europe in HIGHEND vehicle theft is to "jam" your car's receiver so it never "hears" and reacts to the fob's coded signal. Gone in 60 seconds. Just make SURE it locks before you walk away. That is all. This new attack provides similar results but in a different and much lower tech manner to my other post in this thread. And I was corrected that Ferrari uses some kind or rotating code in their key system but this new tactic is impervious to that. The car never locks to begin with..
Interesting, this would work but they need to move in quickly because the immobilizer automatically arms after (as I recall) 1 minute.
Mark- The Ferrari fobs do use a rolling code and we have the read-outs to prove that fact. There are thousands of different combinations possible for each fob. The immobilizer rearms itself 60 seconds after you remove the key and open the door or 120 seconds after you disarm the system with the fob and do not start the engine. Jamming the lock command is fairly simple and would prevent the anti-theft sensors from arming, but would not affect the immobilizer. Whenever you lock your car, you should listen for the audible thwock as the door locks. Taz Terry Phillips
Cool. Learned something new. Thanx Taz, guys. Just did not want anyone's car to do a "Houdini" on them. High-End and late model and speciality cars around here have been disappearing like crazy over the past few years. Most rental companies will NOT ALLOW customers to take cars into the "Former East" do to thehigh rats of theft. If they do, the renter assums 100% responsibility. The local version of 60 minutes had this "new theft tactic" on a week ago or so. The have it down so well that a stolen car in not even in the country of theft 6 hours after the heist. The cops really do not even try. Do not know if Grand-Theft Auto is as big a problem there as it is here.
Carlos, - connect the fob to be cloned - click on the Device Select button, choose the Microwire 93Cxx > 93(L) Cxx > 16 bit > 93C46A - set the DIP switches on the programmer as shown in the picture - from the menu, Action and then Read. This reads the content of the source fob into memory - connect the fob to be programmed - from the menu, Action and then Program This writes the content of memory onto the destination fob. Done!! Good luck, Stefano

Hi Eric, I am totally new to F- ownership & chatrooms... Just bought a F-360 spider, fantastic car ! Reading through these colums I realize I share same annoying issue as many buyers of an used F 360 : only got one key & black remote. Duplicating the key was an easy job starting from an Alfa Romreo key made by Silca Italy ( GT6 RAP model ) Re. the black remote: hope I may order 2 clones from you ? I am not feeling confident to do the job myself as I don't want to take the risk to ruin the only remaining remote. Presently I am living in Belgium but considering taking the F 360 to Malaysia next year. Can I contact you directly? I really appreciate if you could help. stephaan ([email protected])
