Thanks. I weighed in while it was current saying that while his claims were unproven his post were their own best rebuttal. Closing it down feeds the conspiracy mind set.

I know that its easy for me to say but generally I think the more information available the wiser the decision.

I'm all for informed and constructive debate, but this thread began with an anonymous and defamatory post. I don't get a vote, but the ban seemed entirely appropriate.

    Great and instructive shot.

    What say you now 908?

Does any one have any other shots of the chassis?

I agree completely.I can see doing this to controll totally "off subject' issues. profanity.extreme liability issues etc. For something like this give the system a chance to police itself. It is important for those involved with F Chat to be able to appreciate both the good and the not so good. Big Brother need not be so hasty. Heaven knows when I make a mistake I hear about it !!. It usually ends up as a learning experience. just one man's opinion tongascrew

What a fabulous picture. It's this kind of provenance that make this whole thing such fun. Thanks very much. Got any more. just one man's opinion tongascrew

Great pic of the chassis. So can I get the Readers Digests version of where the current body came from? Thanks.

    Tongascrew...

I may have "jumped the gun" or been hasty...it seemed to me that, with the banning of the OP, the discussion was destined to either become completely one-sided, or come to a standstill, and I elected to 'head it off at the pass.'

Bad call on my part, but rectified now.

    Mea culpa.... and lesson learned.

And perhaps remove 908's bite guard when (if?) he's prepared to support his claims w/facts ...?

There's no good option once a thread like that is started and I'm glad I don't have to make the calls but I'd like to think that those interested enough in the subject can see through the BS.

Threads like this always beg the question: how much of a car has to remain on the car for it to be considered an "authentic" example.

I read here in this thread that the engine/gearbox and other bolt-on bits are original, in "restored" condition. The body is "as original" but is not original. The frame has probably had parts replaced if it's been in any accidents at all (which it appears to have been) so lets call it "partly original", but is constructed "as original".

I'll disclaim that I've got no financial interest in this car at all (and I hope to watch it sell for huge money), but I'm left to ponder the question which always seems to come up every so often: how much of the car's original pieces needs to be there for it to be considered "authentic", as opposed to a "tribute". I'm unable to play on this monitary level at all, so I'll happily leave the answers to those who can put money where their mouth is.

See what happens when the gates are left open and a free press is allowed to do its thing. Look what has been uncovered because some little ..... crawled out from under a rock and shot his mouth off. As I said in another post, when I make a mistake I hear about it and consider it a learning experience. just one man's opinion tongascrew

From my standpoint, as the groundless "conspiracy" was solely on behalf of the single-minded thread initiator, and was dusted by Eyewitness experts, dust goes in the dustbin.

But, if y'all want to kick more dust around . . .
