All codes are clear except for the ABS,we tested a normal hub and the message goes from that side so tomorrow we will swap the ABS sensor rings for scuds.I hope the problem will be solved after this....
As I suspected. This seems to confirm the information I had been given that the 360 and 430 abs sensors have something 'different' about them which means they don't interoperate. The ABS ring sensors emit a magentic pulse which is converted by the upstream ABS/ASR ecu into a digital signal, so perhaps the signal is somehow different with the blue ringed abs sensors and thats what the SD3 is picking up from the ABS/ASR unit which doesn't know how to translate the signal its not programmed to understand. Q. Did you get the dealership to pull exactly what code it was logged in the ABS? Q. Was it the TOOTHED WHEEL TOOTH message being logged ? If it is I'm confident that swapping over the original 430 wheel sensors will work! This is the only difference I can see between a regular 360 hub bearing and a 430 hub bearing. (After all we know the 430Ch wheel bearings where still using the old 360 abs sensors) - Hence the issue I believe you've been having. Having not actually done this personally I cannot be certain but I'm working to the assumption that if you swap over the abs sensor rings the actual hub bearings themselves are interchangeable between 360's and 430 cars. As indeed are the bearings that fit within the ring interchangeable between 430ch and road cars. Cannot wait!
We are working now exchanging the ABS sensors, they look the same only the color but some how they emit a different signal/pulse etc I hope in the afternoon we will have more info.... We are at the end of this mod hope it works.
I hope it works too! It may take longer but we will get it working, even if I have to get my multi-meter out and work out the differences or reverse engineer the abs/asr software and patch the code I'll make it work!
The feeling of suspense is just killing me!!! We've all been on a long pictorial journey with many up's and down's to get to this point. Everyone's fingers, toes and everything else are crossed!
Ok now all the computers are happy !!!!! I just have to test in the street, but all the codes are off so it is necessary to change the scud ABS sensors.
pics please! n tell how they ride. waiting with bated breath n a set of 430 ch wheels in cold storage for the past 4 months!
pictures pictures pictures PLEASE!!! i must check this thread 8 to 10 times per day for pictures of the wheels on the car. i believe i speak for many anxious f chatters, including thomas schreiber. thank you!
Congratulation's! An historic moment... Your certainly the first and currently the only 430 Scuderia owner in the world, probably THE first Ferrari "road car" in the world to have successfully applied 430Ch Center Locking Wheels to your car, aka Enzo style! This is all using 100% genuine Ferrari parts too (abet electronically re-jigged somewhat... ) which is excellent for future sustainability. I cannot see how Ferrari won't follow suit in future model's, perhaps starting with the 458 Scuderia/CS model. I am now just itching to complete this conversion myself too. The biggest issue I have is i'm still missing 1 LH hub which I'm hoping to source next week.. arrg. Just been playing with my center lock wheel bearing hubs this morning and I'm hoping to follow you on my 360 and be one of the first to prove it there too. I think its genuinely easier on a 360 since it doesn't have the issue with abs sensors because I'm thinking they are the same ones. Who knows until I try. May have to re-use my own abs sensors like you did... Now please post pictures ASAP! And for all those people worried about the wheel nuts coming lose and the wheel flying off (due to there only being 1 nut) its not going to happen. The nuts are reverse thread so they actually only TIGHTEN rather than loosen during forward movement. Ok, perhaps if you drove 100mph in reverse....
hmmmm the ABS message came on again and the car auto protects so you cant go fast the GB only goes to second gear so you cant use the car. The scanner reads different wheel speeds,I think we have to calibrate each ABS sensor so that all have the same gap etc... More work on Monday hmmmm ok this is hard but the car looks mega cool, and I think now it is more valuable since all parts are OEM... I am confident we will solve this problem one way or another so we will continue...
Sorry for the terrible Blackberry pic I will have good ones next Monday.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
360Trev can you please ask your techs if there is a procedure to initialize or equalize the ABS sensor speeds, maybe they have to be installed at a very tight tolerance etc...
hi, i think i speak for us all when i ask for pictures of how these beautiful bbs center lock rims look mounted on your scuderia! i have been checking back several times per day for days now, waiting for them to surface. fantastic project and detailed information, now we just need to see them from a full view on the car. thank you in advance! looking forward to it and good luck with ironing out the last details.
The number of teeth is not the only parameter of importance. Gap, magnetic field strength are also major factors. I would suggest you do a back to back comparison looking at the signal of each sensor type with an oscilloscope while one wheel is rotated by hand. Same number of teeth will generate the same signal frequency (for a given wheel speed) but the signal amplitude, which is also sensed by the ECU, may be different due to the gap or the magnet. Just a thought ....
Tomorrow we will swap the OEM scud magnets with scud ABS sensors and super align the gap of the sensors etc ...
Finally some pics...sorry the guy that took them was nervous jiji Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
