Ok, so as the title says, there are just about no amazing dining experiences in Los Angeles. For being one of the world's largest cities, we really don't have anything. Yes, we do have all the chains, etc. The Wolfgang Puck Restaurants are very good, and then there are the famous ones like Lawry's, The Ivy, NOBU, etc. It seems like Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, New York, New Orleans, etc have been the talk of this thread. Any suggestions?

Pink's Hot Dogs, that's probably the most famous one, and then Randy's Donuts, not really 'fine dining'

How nice are you talking? Michelin guide stuff? Melisse here in Santa Monica has a Michelin star... Outside of that, I had a nice meal at Rustic Canyon as well, right down the street. FIG has some interesting dishes, great service. I had an amazing mussel risotto at La Cachette. I am looking forward to a meal at Georgio Baldi soon. Old school Italian at Vito's was great.

Overall, I tend to agree with you that most of the food in LA is mediocre.

Now, if you want to get messy or down on the street . . .

Pink's, as mentioned, is required by *ahem* L.A. Law

Tommy's - Downtown - for the love of all that is holy, not other locations

    Yuca's - Los Feliz - must.have.the. Cochinita Pilbil

Zankou Chicken - trust me - get the Shawerma

Pecos Bill's BBQ - Glendale [location straddles line with Burbank] - It's Okie soul food

Canter's Deli on Fairfax, of course

Then, there's the legendary Farmer's Market
    Du-par's
    The Gumbo Pot
Magee’s Kitchen - First thing my Grandparents asked about when I moved to L.A.
    Moishe’s Restaurant
Patsy D’Amore’s Pizza - still using same brick oven that introduced pizza to L.A., and Frank dined on

Comme Ca is great. Their beef bourguignon is the best I've have in my life.

L.A. isn't a fancy town in terms of the fine dining, white tablecloth setting. However, it's very good for it's ethic diversity and relaxed dining.

A decent dog, but not worth the wait in line.
Regardless of location, a poor excuse for a hamburger. Fatburger and/or In-N-Out blow Tommy's out of the water.

Not fine dining, but highly recommended!

Diner slop at it's best. Sexiest waitresses in town too!;)

I love this place! Fantastic steaks with a "how ya doing attitude!" And the pasta is amazing. I'd also like to mention that the steaks/entrees come with a side of pasta. Time to break out the fat pants! Only problem..... West Hollywood parking. Valet is terrible and expensive. Street parking..... good luck. Being this is a automotive chat- specializing in Ferraris, not recommended to take your nice car to.

Yeah, but, Pinks is still required by L.A. Law. Never went with line going. No way, no how.

Yeah, I hit Fatburger once a week. I/O monthly. However, the disclaimer is true - The original Tommy's is umpteen times better than other locations - which come in 3 special offerings - bland, lifeless & minus the soul.

This place is very good! Until about 30 minutes after you wooof down some friend chicken, waffles, sweet butter, maple syrup, and some sweet tea! I swear I was having a heart attack. I'm 30 years old, and in good shape. My left arm went numb, my chest wanted to explode and I couldn't move. But it still tasted great! Lets now mention when I claimed jihad on my toilet the next day!
