Hey everybody. I just traded my 1985 308GTS in on a 1999 355. I read all about the maintenance and service issues with the 355 so I know about the exhaust problems and cat issues and engine out services but I bought it anyway. It has 28000mi on it and it is awsome. I had the PPI down at central Jersey Ferrari and it had no mechanical issues and I got a great(great deal) with all records and I love it. I have a small crack in the windshield under the rear mirror. I knew about this and the potential $4000 replacement cost but the price made up for the difference. I am going to do the repair myself because noone in the area will do the repair. I just need to get the mirror off safely and do the repair. If I can fill the crack and save the new windshield cost excellent but if not I will just have to have it replaced. Either way I love it I love it I love it.

    Hi Eyboro
It's the six speed. There was a silver F1 Spider there with 7000mi but this one looked much better taken care of even though it had more miles. It is miles ahead of the 308 in performance and even looks. I used to think the 308 was a beautiful design but I have to say the 355 has it all.

    Thanks

I tend to think of the 308 as a classic, timeless beauty, and the 355 as the most modern upgrade version of the same lineage. I have a 355 as well and think the world of it, but I still think the 308 with the front Euro spoiler ( 288 GTO like) is prettier from the front. I also love the look of the 458 as well. However, nothing beats the looks of the 355 from the rear 3/4 angle. Enjoy the cinquevalvole sonnet. Nothing else comes close!

My 355 had the same crack safelite said it was because the
metal Mirror base was glued directly to the glass and conducted heat
to the glass. I bought mt glass aftermarket and safelite charged me 225.00
to install using the original trim (factory replacement trim 880 dollars)
and theyinstalled an insulating pad between the glass and mirror.
