Couldn't help noticing the huge difference between Ferrari of the past vs Ferrari of today, and thought it would make a cool thread. I'll start! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
See also this thread. The Dino/360 pics are pretty amazing. I don't know the specs, but the 458 looks smaller in person than the 430. A good start.
DaD- The first photo was taken with a telephoto lens and that will make the following car look larger, but the 599 is still huge compared to a 288 GTO. Nobody thinks of Maranellos as being small, but take a look at these comparison shots. There is also this thread: Ferrari next to normal size cars ... and this one... Let's see photos of your Ferrari parked next to normal cars! They show that as big as modern Ferraris are next to their older sisters, they're still small!
It's a trend in all automakers. A current corolla is about the same size as a camry was 15 years ago.
Agreed. I was at a stop light in my e36 m3 next to a brand new e92 m3 and was amazed at the size difference--felt like i was looking up at an SUV next to me!
+1 Same comparison to the new Taurus from the original. Eventually you're going to need a commercial license to operate.

Cool. Haven't seen 458 Italia on the road yet You're probably correct. But wow, the 599 looks fat compared to 5XX Maranello! Still think Maranello is Ferraris best looking GT car... Thank you for the links! I recalled one of those threads but couldn't find them... I agree. M3 E30 - M3 E92 difference is extreme... But they did change the philosophy of the M3 brand under the evolution though.
Customers want all the crap too. F1 gear boxes, electric seats, navigation systems, big stereos... Tons of stuff that add weight...
It makes me wonder where the limit is. . . is 1000 HP really so great if the car itself weighs 5000 lbs.? I'd rather have relatively little horsepower in a car no bigger than a 355. (Which still looks gigantic next to my 308!)
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad it's not what I had in mind. With that being said, the size difference between the 599 and 288GTO is mind blowing. -G.B.
my 308 GT4 compared with some classics and the modern F430 flying by . the F430 looks massive near the fragile 308. Not the best pics but you can definitely see the hight difference, I like the California better in person than in pics but it does not stand out in public streets. In fact I drove by this two times and never noticed it, I thought it was and Acura lol. The 308/328 348/355 Testa etc.... you can spot a mile away, you know something is heading your way that is exotic low and sleek. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice pics! One of my first memories of a non red Ferrari was seeing a light blue 308, just like that one in the first pic, parked in a street in Basel, Switzerland in 1984. I was 12 years old... Best regards
Here's my 308 between two 430s, woah, mine looks like a kid's pedal car!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
A year or two ago, many fchatters were coming unhinged about rumors of a Ferrari SUV. Rest assured, Ferrari is not going to begin production of an SUV. They already have. It's called the 430.
Anyone have any pics of a 166MM next to a modern F? I was looking at the size difference between 1:18 scale 166 and 599....next to each other, the 166 looks a little more than half as big.
