    Hi all,

the iPhone 4 has only been on sale here in NZ for 2 weeks, so i've just got one.

I can pair my California OK, but every time I try to make a call, the voice comes through very staccato, and the person on the other end hears nothing. Sometimes I can't even get that far.

My 3Gs worked very well, and they're on the same iOS4 (actually i'm on 4.0.2 now on the iP4).

Any other members have one of these phones. Can you share your experience with pairing and using it with your Cali???

    Cheers,
    Adam

I just got my 4 this weekend and haven't paired it yet, but will do so and report back because my 3G running 4.0.2 was working fine.

I have a 4 as well and have had problems with the Bluetooth in general. I use it with a headset and is just terrible compared to the 3GS which was great. I have had the phone replaced by apple and still the same. One thing that improves it is turning off the Wifi. Apparently Bluetooth and Wifi share the same antenna on this phone. Makes a big difference.

I am also having the same issues with the other person not being able to hear me.

The infotainment system also deletes the downloaded contact list.

Ever since the TopGear test in Romania highlighting bluetooth issues with the California, I have had to defend the car and its bluetooth system which I thought was excellent but since the arrival of Iphone 4 I've disconnected bluetooth .

Hopefully Apple will be working on a fix for this one.

Thanks, I'll try that. I've asked my dealer to look into it too. I'll post their reply when I get one....

Mine seems to be working fine. Hubby says I sound like I'm "in a barrel" but I think it always sounds like that.

I went to my dealer today and tried my iPhone 4 with their demo California, and it worked fine !?!?
However, he said there have been documented problems with using this specific phone in the Cali, and he'll get back to me after doing some homework.

Now to try it in my car again to convince myself the problem actually exists

I cant get mine to work at all. The person at the other end cannot hear me and I am having problems with the calls getting disconnected. I have given up for now and am using my headset which is a pain.

My iPhone 4 works fine in the Cali, as does my wife's 3GS. I DO know that the 4 is having echo problems with other folks. For example, a friend with a MBZ E Class sounds terrible. He's about to go back to a 3GS. I'm guessing its the phones.

The iphone 4 is a complete POS. I switched back to my old 3GS today.

Wow, that's strong. I only had the 3G but must say I love the 4 - so much faster, Facetime is amazing, love the HD vid it takes, flash, etc. but I think that was avail on 3GS which I never had.

I do not have any issues in the Caddy with echo on BT, but did have some in the F car. I think there must be another software issue that needs to be attended to after looking at other comments in this thread.

Mine is now working fine in both cars. Not sure way. There's been no software upgrade. I still hear an echo every now and then but have always had that here and there. I think that's more a reception issue and it isn't limited to bluetooth.

Have you done the "reset all settings" gig? It's a PITA but seems to work for most people.

I have the 3G iphone running OS 4.0.1 and it works great in the Cali.

One of my friends recently upgraded his 3GS with the latest OS 4.0.2. and it no longer works in his cars porsche and GM. He is really mad. So he told me not to upgrade to 4.0.2 and wait until the next upgrade.

I am running iPhone 4 and my wife 3GS, each with 4.0.2, and each has worked perfectly since its initial release with our 2009 Porsche and with a couple BlueAnt Bluetooth speakerphones in our older cars. I agree with Jennifer's suggestion to reset the Bluetooth to forget all the devices, and then try re-pairing the devices.

I still haven't had a response from my dealer. I drove a 2011 cayenne s last week and the iPhone 4 paired a worked flawlessly. I have had both successes and failures making calls in my Cali though. So something is obviously not right. I did a 'reset all settings' which didn't seem to make a difference.

Jen, I haven't tried that yet. Been too busy traveling and work. I'll give that a shot and see if it fixes the problem.

I have updated my i4 to the newest software version released last week (4.1 i think). I then jumped on a plane and went overseas so haven't had a chance to do any extensive testing with the Bluetooth in the Cali, but the first time I jumped in the car and tried to make a call, it worked, first time, just as it should. I'll need to try it a number of times to make sure it's actually sorted out this issue, but on the face of this limited trial, it would seem the new iOS tweaked the bluetooth on the handset.

I'll post an update after the weekend.

    ciao,
    Adam

Yes, The new iOS 4.1 has resolved my Bluetooth issues also... works great, as you'd expect.

Does your iPhone work when it's plugged in to the iPod connector and being charged? Mine doesn't.

Actually, i've never tried that. I have an iPod living in the glovebox permanently. I'll give it a try though and get back to you.

Mine has always worked flawlessly with the connector, but I now have my old iPhone there permanently. It works very intermittently when plugged into the Caddy connector, though.
