Ben, how would you rate your 550M against the 360 and 430? I am just wondering coz you seem to like your 550M significantly more than the V8s in your collection?

I have seen a blue 550M at Lam Tin before :). It was either TDF or Pozzi Blu.

My mistake, the 550 I saw was actually a 575...

Don't get me wrong, I love my 360 and 430s...which is why bought 2 of the latter. The 430 makes me think I'm a much better driver than I actually am. The 430 whups ass (that's a technical term) on the 550 in every benchmark of performance. It's not even close since the 430 is almost a decade newer; compare the jurassic traction control of the 550 vs the 430, just for starters. Haven't tried the 458 yet but I'm sure it's another quantum leap past the old 550 dinosaur.

But I'm more excited getting into the 550 than I am getting into the 430. I prefer the low end torque and power delivery of the V12, and the driving experience is more "primitive", in a good way. If my commute to work were through the twisty canyon roads of california and I could rev it out every day, I'd probably prefer the 430. But my commute is just up and down magazine gap road (and flat out for 500 meters past Government House on Upper Albert!), so I enjoy the 550 better. The sound of the V12 w tubis at redline in Western Tunnel is magic. Last but not least, IMHO I think the 550 is one of the most beautiful shapes Ferrari's ever designed. The 430 is cooler looking, but the 550 is so much prettier. Just my 2 cents.

Didn't mean to hijack this thread - supposed to be "HK Exotics spotting"... Passed a brand spanking new red 458 last night on Magazine Gap Road with T-plates around 7. Also saw a blacked out 599 at the Wanchai shell station at 1AM Monday morning. I was in the blue 360. Anyone on this thread?

I was at the dealer today and witnessed the owner picking up this 458, the interior is gorgeous! darker brown color with contrasting stitching. There were at least 3 more 458's there ready to go.

Oh sorry misread your post, i thought you meant today you saw the 458 on T-plates.

Really? Did you know anyone really tried to register a X-now over here? I guess it is feasible
but I didn't bother to try yet. I guess Atom is rejected because of the ECU is not installed.

    Cheers

True, maybe it'd get used so little it's not worth the tax?

Both you guys better take care. See this on the 9th 458 already to bite the dust....or should I say ashes to ashes.

Seems there may be a risk of engines catching fire to the extent that there may be a new "breather" mod planned. With temperatures in HK and Sing, might be worth watching out for.

    FYI

Blimey! Was it on T-plates? How come as soon as I'm out of town the really interesting stuff turns up? That's at least two in HK then, I saw a pearl blue one in SPS last year.

Hey guys, I'll be visiting HK for a couple of days in early September... are there any cruises / meets I could check out? I'm a photographer from Canada and would love to check out the exotics scene over there.

What happened to the SMD this morning? Only saw a few Lambos and a 360 Spider in TMT, and a LP550, V8 Vantage and 550 in LK...o_O insane amount of cyclists though.

Plus went around the area where I live afterwards and saw a red 599 and white LP560 in a garage, never seen the LP560 before. :D

BTW recently noticed quite a few cars bearing license plates beginning with a certain cantonese profanity related to 'falling down'. Any idea why the government allowed them?

I looked into getting an Atom over here, talked to the factory to see if they knew of any that have successfully been reg'd here. They told me that their agent did try once but was rejected, but that was for an old model without the requisite OBD-II compliant ECU. If that's the only problem, then a newer model with a newer ECU should work, but to date nobody's tried. I didn't want to be the guinea pig so bought another F car instead...

Yes, it was LHD and t-plates. To be honest, there is nothing positive to write about on the styling. Initially when I spotted from far away; I was thinking what rice-rocket is that?? Then oh wait... its a Gumpert.

I went in as well this morning after all night mahjong..

I was already on the way out when I saw the LP550 & friends going into TMT, quite disappointing today really.

The only car worth mentioning is a nice blue 964 RS in LK, what a classic.

There might be 2 reasons why there were close to no cars in there today:

    1. People still worry about what the Police did few weeks ago?
    2. My friend said he saw a large group of exotics at the boarder on friday heading into mainland, track day I supposed.
