My shift to 5th at redline is at 125mph. The shift to 6th is right around 155. My car then pulls pretty good, but really starts dragging by about 165. To get much faster takes a LOT of open road....

I am a little disappointed that this doesn't have more top end... Anyone done any mods to make it better? It really hacks me off that mustangs, vettes, vipers, etc can blow my doors off and spent at least half on their cars. Granted, I know a Ferrari is a whole different category, but it is still starting to bother me

I have been in a few 430's one spider up to around 270 km/h, running with a coupe and this was done with ease going uphill, will post the video in a moment(when I find it). I think the critical thing is to get to 290 + you do need a lot of road...as you would in a Z06 or any similar powered sports cars.

Of course give the 430 a piece of twisy road and I dont see a Mustang being able to keep up...

Had my Scud at Road America last month. On the main straight passed 175 mph. Not sure of the final number. I was a little busy at the time.

In "RACE" mode, or normal? There's a lot of air fighting that car at 150+. Sometimes they are deceiving, going much faster that it feels.

This most recent run was in race mode, cst off, top and windows up.

I wish it would still pull to 190ish. It took me a lot of road to hit 190

145, but it wasn't a top-speed run. We were on our way to the track for a day of driving, it was early and there were a number of us fast cars.

Car felt as planted at 145 as it does at 75... amazing. It just wanted to keep going.

At least your car can reach top speed. The mirror design on non-Stradale 360s creates too much turbulence to the air entering the engine intakes as you approach the theoretical top speed of 180mph to let the engine develop full power, so you are "limited" to something in the 160-170 range. My friend, a race engineer, offered to add a vane or other aerodynamic device to the mirrors to overcome this, but I don't think I'll do that. Few public roads will allow that safely (certainly not legally!), and the straights at most tracks are too short for that as well.

165mph? I hope you're doing this on a closed course or a very safe enviroment. For any experienced track drivers, this car is plenty fast and few can utilize it's full potential. F430 is a balanced car and it's really about the whole package, speed, handing and balance. Mustangs are not in the same performance cataglory as Vipers and Z06 Corvettes which are respectable performers, but are made at a price for valued enthusiasts.

WOW! I really need to go for a ride in a Scud.

My 430 is a great car and I do love it.... I guess I just expect nearly the best, based on the price/value of the car

When I posted an over 175 mph at RA in my Scud. There was still lots of pull left on the engine. I just ran out of straight track before I had to start downshifting from 6th gear to 2nd. I had so much power left in the engine I could have almost left my car in 5th. all the way if I really wanted to push the revs to its limits. But since its the only portion of track I have driven that gives you the opportunity to use a sixth gear if so inclined. I enjoy having the chance to play with it before having to start my downshifts in order to make my 90 degree right hander. All this with no lift, no roll, windows down and in Race mode. The book says she will do 199 mph. and I don't doubt it for a second. I just need to find an airfield to test it on!

165 was no trouble at all, infact I was surprised how quickly it made it to that speed.

I hit 165mph(GPS verified, Speedo showed over 170) on the German Autobhan a couple of months back, like others was amazed how easy it got there, would have been higher if I didn't need to back off for traffic.

So using that logic the modified mustang is a better car because it's faster? Faster is always better???

WRONG!!! Your car is the best compared to the cars you mentioned. It's unfortunate that you don't see it that way.

I guess you just need to get that new Bugatti that does 250+ mph.

No, I don't feel that way. Like I mentioned, I love my car and I know it is superior.... it is just a slight kick in the nuts when some d*bag comes up in his suped-up mustang and can go faster off the line and top end.... Its part of life, someone somewhere is always going to have something nicer, newer, faster, or whatever... I just get a little sick of hearing about it, especially at my age... everyone has a damn car that is 'faster' than my Ferrari and I feel like you can see the steam come out of my ears when I hear them talk about it.

I wish I had the money and lack of warranty concerns to do the Underground Racing TT upgrade.

I'm at a point in my life where the only person I care to impress ( besides my wife and kids ;) ) is myself. If a supercharged Mustang or a tuned ricer does it for you, great......for me it's my Ferrari. Everytime I look at it and everytime I drive it I'm impressed.

The last thing I'd be doing is getting angry due to someones Ford being faster than my Ferrari!
